Just curious, what's your OTHER vehicle?

My baby.

For many years my other vehicle was a commuter bike as it was actually faster for me to ride my bike to my office than drive. That was my penance for diving a vehicle with low gas mileage. My spouse's vehicle is NOT my other vehicle. It is her vehicle.

But then a few years back my father passed way and I inherited his truck. So for the past few years my other vehicle has been "Pop's truck." It is 2006 Tacoma with just over 60K miles. Which having a truck is nice as I have owned them since I owned vehicles.

Now that I am retired, I put more miles on vehicles than when I was working. In a few days I will be making my forth trip to the desert in five weeks. My vehicles are tools to get to end of the road, the adventure starts where the vehicle stops. Gotta love being able to go midweek and avoid the weekenders :-).

2017 BMW X5 35i Xdrive ~110k miles. Pretty much the best I car I have ever owned. Roomy inside, 320hp/320 lb-ft, fits 5 comfortably and can smoke most others cars on the road when needed. Thankfully it has been incredibly reliable too.
Seats are surprisingly comfortable for long drives, despite being pretty firm, 4 zone climate control and front and rear heated seats are hard to beat and it has a proper tailgate too!

F15 X5 got traded for G07 X7 40i. I told my wife that it shares its drivetrain with Toyota Supra :D

I just saw an M240i yesterday with a vanity license plate "G42UPRA" lol. They're sweet cars, but I'm still sad that Toyota didn't bother developing their own drivetrain. It's all just dollars and cents to them these days.

No more soul at Toyota anymore!
Yeah most Toyotas have have been soul less. Interesting cars have been an exception to the norm for them.

Not to get too sidetracked, but even with the millions of camrys and corollas, we had solid axle landcruisers, mid engine MR2s, a true Toyota built supra, a range of V8s, V10s and V12s, manual 4runners, manual tacos on all trims, 'poverty pack' trims, Cruisers with tailgates and barn doors, factory superchargers, 2 door and 4 door Rav4s with lockers and manual trans, removable top 4runners, the 2JZ, on and on

and not that long ago!

With many examples of each still on the roads today with high mileage, original powertrains.

Meanwhile, there's plenty of "interesting" BMWs out there... in the junkyards.

This was my daily with the idea I keep miles off my LX. I was getting a new one every 4 years or so. I don't want a new Tundra... Now I keep miles off both and drive a POS 18 chevy truck. And I have a 76 K20 I'm working on. Kind of a truck farm here...

Hey, some low mileage rare Toyotas are already worth gold like MKIV Supras, LFAs, and 2000GTs.

Who knows, that might be the case with the last Toyota V8s someday also, particularly rare spec.

I am kind of keeping the miles lower on the Tundra for my son. He's an aerospace student who's been driving his FJ (07) and won't let us get him something newer. He's at 198k and wants to keep it forever. I told him I'd keep the green one nice for him. Plus- I don't mind "stretching out" the Chevy. It gets a ton of stress free abuse. My Chevy's live outside. The nice stuff stays warm and dry.
