I am prepping the block for head Install. I cannot find a tap to clean the head bolt threads. It seems to be an odd size. Not an 8 and and not a 10. (maybe a 9))?) Anyone have the size and pitch memorized? maybe I can order it from somewhere once I have the correct size. my bolt Guage doesn't have a 9 hole on it.

The size is M11 X 1.25 pitch per:

picked up freshly milled head today....7-10
thousandths and newly installed oem vale stem oil seals....been debating about the rear main for the past 2 weeks. I have literally replaced or in process of replacing every seal and gasket except oil pan and timing chain cover....so we went ahead and dropped transmission today. Oil gushed out of bell

housing when separating.... So, rear main seal service was the right call. I went ahead and popped a new transmission pump seal in today. Tomorrow, I will tackle the rear main........and then, I will have turned the corner. no more taking off and disassembly. I will only be putting it back together. I guess when done, I will check suspension and see what it needs....looks like maybe I am headed to the

What? Where?

Where are you headed to?

Don't leave us in suspense!!!!

But you have done one hell of a job !!

head looks good. $240 to have it milled and install all 24 seals. includes cleaning of the valve cover.

Seals cost me almost that. No one said that is was going to be cheap.

I think those gaskets are for the pair valve and not used on the later models.

yeah, pair or oxygen sensor gaskets. You can get blank off plates (a toyota part) to close the pair holes with the gaskets if not reinstalling pair on a 1994. Not sure the holes are even there on a 1996.

looks like it by the diagram. Thanks so much for the help! I was scratching my head.

would you put a little die electric grease in the transmission harness plugs? I am hoping to run wiring harness over the top and plug things up before installing transmission. it is so much easier to get to things with it out.

fuel rail, driver side harness, distributor, plug wires, half of fuel lines.....all hooked up. going to have to take a break for a minute...heading to Guatemala this week. the hard stuff is behind me, should be smooth sailing now to the finish line.

back from Guatemala but picked up a covid bug while down there.. no work on the 80 until I feel better. hopefully that is Monday!

finally did something today on the 80. installed fuel tank! all new hoses and all new fuel pump. should have a break from work soon to finish upper intake install and transmission. Also, I picked up the newly covered front seats. they are so perty! now the back seats look like crap....

transmission is in ! today, I hope tonget alternator, upper intake plenum, power steering Reservoir, and the exhaust hooked up. I am creeping my way to the finish line. will prob fill front/rear differential and t-case with 90 wt oil, too. I have already drained those. The gear oil absolutely stinks.

well, been a busy time yesterday and today. got trans in, upper intake plenum, alternator, PS Reservoir, fuel lines, vac lines, exhaust manifolds, etc. I am starting to see the finish line. the parts on the floor in the LC are starting to thin out.
