Anyone want a complete 80 series 4bd1t drive train including a440 and AWD t case along with upgraded turbo, rebuilt injection pump and injectors. All parts used in the rebuild are new or remanufatured. Engine had new sleeves, pistons, head completely redone, new timing gears ect. I have over 8k invested into this. Can also include intercooler radiator setup. It's all for sale.

A440 has 200k miles on it but has a upgraded custom valve body with electronic converter lock up in any gear. Also has a low stall converter that was rebuilt 7200kms ago. I believe the converter is having issues holding the power when the engine is on full song. I also have a spare a440 with T case if needed.

The engine has one low sleeve or 3 proud sleeves. At any rate the sleeves need to be fixed/replaced. I don't have the heart left to fix it myself I'm just finished.

I'm sure it's an easy fix for a machine shop or your self if you are handy.

Pm if interested. I would also be willing to sell everything but the engine if you do not want to take that on.

Bummer...I would encourage you to think on it for a few days before you make the final decision. At least you know the problem.

What sleeves did you use?

The one being different than the other three seems the likely problem. But hard to confirm without pulling them all to compare.

Really sorry to hear this.

Bugger. But that can be fixed in-situ.

Leave it for the weekend.
I'm not sure how they can be fixed in the truck. All the sleeves where identical, the only way I can see it being this far out is if the block deck sunk or there was crud under 3 sleeves making them sit proud of the other. Very unlikely since I made sure the sleeves seat was perfectly clean.

Am I making rash decisions.... Yes..... Am I fed up dealing with this engine yes.

I'm at the point now that I am willing to take a huge financial loss on this to go a different route.

I can understand people saying hang in there after the first head gasket but now to find that I am basically starting from zero again I just can't accept the "hang in theres" any longer. I'm not interested in having a project for ever I need this truck to RELIABLE, drivable and efficient none of thoes have proven to be the case thus far.

Am I angry yes.

It was a clevite cylinder kit. I got them based on my first hand experience on 6bt clevite pistons and parts.

I have done a sleeve/piston/ring replacement on my 4BD1T in a weekend without pulling the engine from the vehicle. So as long as you have the room to pull the oil pan, it is all doable. I have two aftermarket sleeves here I can measure up for comparison if need be.

Like you I have had a terrible run with aftermarket parts in my 4BD1T and now avoid them wherever possible.

But take a break and think it through. If you fix the gasket problem. What other road blocks are in your way?

*edit*
PM me your email and I'll send through a video of my liner problems.

I feel for you, and think for that you are making the right decision for you. If I was in your shoes I would have no trust in it at any point in the future. It would be easy to drop the pan and rework it in the frame but why at this point? Your burnt out on it and so much more... :bang:

It's been a very enjoyable journey(up til recently) following you on this build, and I can't wait to hopefully follow you in your 6BT swap if you decide to post it's progress.:beer::beer:

What would you charge me for just the 4BD1T? I'd love to learn that platform.

If anyone is interested in buying the whole truck as is that is an option as well.

sorry to hear it's ended up like this! Don't sell the truck tho, drop in a 6BT and NV4500 and call it done!

Man I just checked in on your thread and oh my goodness. I'm sorry to hear about your problems and hope for the best on your behalf. Still working on mine. Not running yet. Best of luck in what ever direction you decide to go.
