Is there a 2" or 3" rear progressive or dual rate spring that actually works?

I just ran the 10mm spacers on all corners because I had them. I spaced up in the front when I found a little bit of tire rub when flexed and turned. No problems since then.

I bought the vehicle originally with OEM springs. I then replaced with the OME stock height springs (dual rate) with spacers. They were good on the road and unloaded, but was not happy with them while loaded. I was on 33s at the time. Of course I went to my first Cruise Moab a few years ago and decided I "needed" bigger tires and more lift. That's when i did the research and settled on the Slinky's or Tapered Dobs. Nothing against the old linear OME springs of yore, but there are new designs...so why not try it!

I have absolutely zero complaints about the ride quality. They not harsh for daily driving (which the wife does mostly...with zero complaints) and found them to be much more controlled at high speed on washboard/dirt roads. This comparison with the DObs and OMEs were with the same shocks, so that is not a factor.

What shocks are you using?

The icon smoothbody IFP 0-2" shock. They are too short in the front by about 2". I plan on trying out the Dobinson MRA shock in a longer length when they are released here soon.

I went with the 2.5"tapered because there wasn't a lot of data out at the time and didn't want too much ride height. I am currently running the trim spacers (10mm) in the rear and 5/8" in the front. Disclaimer: The photos above were with 10mm front and back spacers, so the front rides a bit higher now. Stock front driveshaft and slee caster plates.

Flare to hub measurements as she sits unloaded:
Spacers: 5/8" spacer on Fronts and 10mm rear.
Driver Front: 22 3/4"
Pass Front: 22 3/4"
Driver Rear: 23 1/4"
Pass Rear: 23 1/4"
Low ride height is good. I’m at 25” front and 26” rear totally empty. That’s with dobinson 3” tapered plus 1” spacer front and Slee 4” heavy progressive rear and dobinson 6” lift shocks running 37” TRXUS. I considered dropping 1” but she rides so well now and the ground clearance is helpful on boulder strewn trails.

A set of used Dobinson 3” tapered rear coils is what I’m hunting for. Most springs I buy are used at half price.

Also curious which height you're on. Really considering the 2.5" tapered.

Does slinky actually publish their rates for the different "ratings"? (disclosure, can't recall in the compiled thread if its there, going to look again now) edit: this is still in there unanswered re Heavy 50mm option:

I'm trying to compare the 2.5" dobs tapered to a similar slinky. If There is a heavier duty 2.5" tapered slinky spring than the rates the 2.5" dobs tapered it'd be$$$ for me. I don't want to go to a 3+" lift but still run somewhat light somedays up to full heavy loaded rig for long trips.
I'm aware of the rates of the Slinky springs but I'm not at liberty to say what those are. That's Darren's info and I think he's chosen not to make that info public. But I can say that there is a higher spring rate with the Slinkys than the Dobinsons. Probably best to call Kevin at Endless Horizon and talk to him about the extra heavies. The 50mm ones would be the way to keep the height lower.

See that's whats frustrating about all the slinky hype. I can't even find out IF there is a 50mm heavy, let alone if its available or not (not listed on EHOs site). I'll try giving him a call and pick his brain. Chances are I'll give the 2.5 tapered dobs a shot since I can easily go online and order them...

Have you PM'd @AutoCraft Aus on here and asked about the 50mm heavy? He can tell you if it's even available. Not "hype" if the performance is real, which it is.

If you are doing the 2.5"Dobinsons and its likely that you'll add a spacer of some size, you'd be better off with an overall lower ride height with the 3" Slinky. If you're still worried about ride height being taller than you want just run the 3" intermediates so it will squat a bit more when loaded and get you down to where you want to be. Just a thought. There is so little difference between 2.5" and 3" I doubt you'd even notice the difference in height anyway.

FWIW, I have the 3" Slinkys with no additional spacers. Been running this way with 315's for a couple years but put 37's on in January. Here's my hub to flare measurements:

LF: 24"
LR: 24.25"
RR: 24.5"
RF: 24"

This is with all my current daily weight of bumpers/winch etc, but not loaded for trips. But I lose very little ride height even when loaded.

How it sits "empty". Interior has nothing extra inside besides a HAM radio. All three rows of seats but I don't carry any gear inside on a day to day basis
