(I am not the seller, I am in no way associated with the seller, I am not promoting any ad or car for sale, nor am I promoting the website where the car is listed. I am just asking for an opinion. Sorry mods if this thread goes against the rules somehow.)

I am searching for some California registered diesels so I came across this ad.

The wipers are at the bottom. And all the add-ons seem like a great value, but the seller is asking only for that much?

What's the ball park value for something like this?
FJ40 converted to diesel plus additional improvements.

Unless you can physically see and drive it and study it closely, I would avoid like any other 'pretty' FJ/BJ40 on the web. You'll never know if it's a Colombian disaster loaded with bondo and sketchy wiring. It does seem reasonably priced, but who knows. They didn't exactly go hog-wild on the photos on that site.

I would be skeptical of that ad or the vehicle even being in California. You can see a "grautogallery" banner in one of the photos and they are in Michigan and Indiana. Their website does not list that Land Cruiser.

Interesting. There is something strange about that ad. I cannot find this car for sale on any other site which is unusual.

Someone contact them and see where the truck is actually located - Zip Code is Woodland Hills, CA - 10 mins from me. - but says 'Los Angeles South Holland'. There's no such place, that I know of.

There's nothing special about this being a "registered diesel" in CA. It's pre 1975 so no smog, you can do whatever you want to it and do any engine swap
The idiots still perform an inspection upon registration if you import it from another state.
The fact that is has a diesel engine in an otherwise gasoline titled and configuration from the manufacturer may throw them off.
Once registered here it is a simple title change with no inspection at all.

I'll be back home tomorrow so I will try to contact them to see what they say.
It just seems really odd with so many things not matching up.

Parts list is pretty good for the money but the odds of literally everything having to be re-done are very high. Inspect and drive in person or send an experienced FJ40 builder to inspect

Just a vin verification so if that all lines up you're good to go. I did mine at AAA so even easier
They wouldn't have even known what a diesel engine is

Yes, it's kind of elaborate for a scam, if it is one, unless they copied an ad from somewhere.

Also because of the anomalies, and things that seem just a little-bit-off, quite possible this is an AI generated Ad...

That's the thing, I cannot find the same car for sale on other websites.
Normally these ads appear on multiple sites.

There is history of this car, its conversion or anything offered. Just that some parts from a BJ40 and a 60 were used.
The windshield wipers being at the bottom indicates some changes were made. Where? South America?
Then the price seems more like a bait for all the goodies this car comes with.
That's just how I see it.

Most likely a SCAM.

But that price was the SOLD price.... It's possible it's a basket case and someone wants out ...

** Edit ** not sure it sold, but I don't think that's a current listing... It only shows with a reverse image search from the suspicious ad.

In any case, I'd be VERY CAUTIOUS with this truck.

If it's in Woodland Hills, CA I can take a look - But I know nothing about Diesels.
