i have a chance to go to anza, but at 107 degrees!
is that just asking for trouble?

any wheeling down in the san diego area, so we don't have to reschedule?

107 is not too bad if you take it easy. Hopefully, you have a good temp measurement gauge.
just make sure your a/c is working beforehand, unlike some people I know... :)
and take plenty of water!

tell me about corral canyon

tell me more about corral canyon
specifics...
miles from san diego
can two stock 80's manage the trail
how to get to...
thanks:)

If it's 107 here in town, its 110 or hotter there.

We wheeled one time 110 degrees in Sandstone Canyon.. it wasn't too bad, if you have a/c and your truck has good maintenance cooling wise. At night it was nice. Thank god for our awning at lunch time though.

With all the trips we go on and all the opportunities, i would just wait for a cooler weekend. If you do go, bring tons of fluids for not only your rig, but for you. Plan on the worst.. hiking out. Always bring another rig.

Not a chance in hell you would see me out in that heat! :D

I'm gonna go all Tom Sheppard on you right now--Don't bother with the A/C. You'll never get acclimated if you do that to yourself, and your Cruiser will run better and more efficiently without it.

Wear blousy, light cotton clothes, squirt yourself down with water, drink lots of cold fluids. Get some shade, and cover your head. I wear a kuffiyah, the thing that Arabs wear. It is a brilliant piece of clothing.

It was 116º on this day. No problem!

The CDL for sure. I used the rear locker for most of the bigger obstacles and the front for one or two.

Looks good.

Is it factory flareless? I really like abnormal cruisers.

I am looking for a late 97 with no roof rack, no running boards and cloth interior. I saw a 10/97 red cruiser on ebay with 80k miles, but it had the roof rack.

There's a gray foreign-spec LHD 80 with a turbo deisel and manual tranny in Ramona that I would love to own, but too much $$$.

Does pulling a 4000lb trailer up the grapevine and thru Bakersfield at a max outside temp of 111 count as a dumb idea?

Put me down for one this past weekend. I had the windows down, and the heater on to help cool the engine. The truck performed as she should! Hit the southbound grade at about 65mph, never lifted my foot off the floor and by the time I got to the top I was down to 40mph. I was actually passed by one empty semi!!! How embarassing!!

Best news it that I averaged 9.22 mpg, up from the 8 I averaged last year on the same trip!!! Don't know if it was the new O2 sensors I'd installed the weekend before or the second axle we'd installed on the trailer making it roll easier. Either way I was pleasantly surprised at the mpg I got.

Brent,
shouldn't the truck be able to pull without opening the windows and turning on the heat?
Was your engine temp in a bad way?
