Installing and removing RTT and Roof racks made EZ

What's with all you people and soaring garage ceilings? I can barely walk into mine with out ducking and my truck won't fit even without a rack or RTT. Cool product for those who can use it though.

Had this for a few months, finally got around to installing it.

Works great!!

Does your rig have aftermarket front fenders or is the camera lens giving you that wide eye fender look?

Saw the link in your signature. Nice rig!!

I used 2 trees, some chain, large snatch block, and a small 12v winch, along with various tie downs.

I don't see why not. Though I wish I hd the spacious garages other folks have.

Sweet. I've been searching around for a way to do this in my garage and was just about to buy a bunch of crap and rig my own together when I rethought it and started pokin around. I lucked out apparently cause I ended up going with this same setup before even thinking to look around this site at what others had done. Next time, its straight on in here to search. :D

Gonna be installing mine in the next couple weeks.

I bought mine from Amazon.com a couple years ago after reading Phils thread. Just checked the other day and they're still $130 delivered.

I also just realized awhile ago that my cordless drill fits perfectly in the hand crank without the "hand-end" attached. Makes quick work of the up and down. :)

Bringing this to the top as I just did this. Great write-up Phil and was pretty easy.

My RTT rails did not extend below the RTT, so I had to sit it on the rails that came with the lift.

The RTT was a smidge wider than where the mountingbolts/cables were, so I added an extension to make mine work. Put it between one of my work benches and the Kamper so if it fell:eek: it wouldn't fall on a truck

For the extension, I bought a 3/8" stainless stell turnbuckle and removed the eyes on both ends

I then used the slot in the turnbuckle to thread the bolt from the existing bar and the bolt from the cable

I also used a strap between the two lifting bars to make sure

Well it looks like I missed out on my millions. 10 years ago I had an 87 4rnnr with the removable back. I had something very similar idea. I used a boat crank and a pully with some unistrut worked great. Think I may have had 50-60$ total in it. You def need some head room for this to work. 10 years ago my garage had 12 ft ceilings but now they are only 9ft.

One more use for the ceiling winch. :hillbilly:
