I am new to this vehicle but I have been participating in online automotive forums for about 15 years. This is the first time that I have found a Facebook group to be more informative and active than the forum. The Facebook group has tons on information that is not on here but I find it very difficult to navigate. I end up just scrolling and scrolling and clicking and clicking to see more and more comments to try and desperately find the one comment that had the information I needed when I could have just used the search function on a forum.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Is there a way to better utilize the Facebook groups information?

TLDR: GXOR FB is full of information that is hard to use. How could we change this or improve the forum to get that information here?

I cross post a lot. It is a viable answer. I have been trying to find a way to do this.

@woody is there a technical trick to link back and forth? (assuming this is okay) :)

I wish the people on that group would join this group. Facebook seems like a silly way to discuss technical information. To organize a meet or trail run its great but discussions about spring rates and wiring schematics are just wasted there.

This.

There no automated means of tying FB to outside sources. FB sucks for technical stuff. FB is about DISCOVERY. Forums (and Google) are about searching and finding answers.

Simply put, it is the failure of the FB users for how they choose to traffic their content and information.

AND....FYI to those using other forums...did a quick search and they are NOT secure....IH8MUD has been HTTPS/SSL for months, keeping your password and other account information secure.

This is my only forum for car/truck stuff (actually at all). FB is just to reach the masses. I refer people to here from there a LOT.

The FB group is very active, but the noise level is extreme (I couldn't give a s*** about vehicles for sale in Outer Bungholio) and finding anything of value from days/weeks/months ago is futile. I have some stuff to post, I'll continue to post it here. Or, what @woody said.

The search does work now on FB since we got some content to use, but the rate of change is off the hook!

You can search the GXOR if you have the FB app on your phone or use a computer. It's not as convenient as a forum. But to me I prefer GXOR over a forum. To many people hiding behind fake names with no accountability. I hate it when people post questions and then don't respond or check back. People try and help and nothing of consequence from the OP. Makes you want to not participate so the forums get less help. At least on GXOR people participate.

That they do. Big time. Plus we can hint to the post or keyword for the right search. This forum is also awesome, and as I said, it is referenced/linked/encouraged to join as well.

I posted a group ride on here and GXOR.

Ih8mud. Zero response.

GXOR. 5 Rigs. They are also on Mud but they responded and participated through GXOR.

Maybe over time I will get used to GXOR but as of right now I find it frustrating. I may just be venting my frustration at spending 20 minutes trying to re-find a link to a head unit that was buried in some sub comment of a post that that was hidden behind another nonrelated post. On a forum I would have just looked at that persons build thread and found it in a minute or two. I also feel like you get a sense of people and can look at a post history on a forum easier than on FB but again maybe I am just oldschool.

What you looking for?

At the time it was this head unit that someone said was plug and play for non Nav Gx's but there was another post with someone who used a smaller one and a link to another unit was under some comments in that one and I wanted to compare them.

But would the big screen eliminates the need for a trim piece that you would need to get custom painted or leave black which I can't stand.
*Edit*
Realized that they both eliminate the trim piece but the smaller comes with built in blck trim for the knobs. I am definitely interested in the large screen version.

Haha see great information lost on the GXOR group! I am just going to have to check both daily. I think I might go with the larger one. I will post up my install on my build thread once I get it.
