I'm back with another big block, doubler, one ton build.

  1. Gov locks have lots of spinning parts. Not so great when you grab traction suddenly with wheel spin. Just keep in mind that you'll need a stock carrier. 14 bolt Detroit's ate a quasi lunch box locker design. They are pretty strong tho.

Hmmm, at some point I'm planning on building the 454 pretty darn healthy... Think the Detroit will stand up to a healthy big block?

Should be fine.

Exactly what I've heard too. You put a Detroit in yours and shaved it too right? I'm going to go dig through your thread.

I don't have a locker in the rear yet. I wanted to go with a selectable because of all the road driving I do but other projects have taken the funds. I only have the locker in the front right now.

14 bolt ARB's are a impressive piece of machine work

Topless is the life!

Random thought of the day....

Buggy out the POS cruiser and save the other cruiser for a future restore/expedition type of build...

Hmmmmm.

In your part of the country, how much do you need a sealed passenger compartment? Can a tube buggy be wheeled year round?

Got out to the barn and built some "platforms to pull the tub. Managed to get the tub off... the frame is confirmed to be "tweaked".

Hey Zach, what's going on with the build? I've heard some new stuff.

Meh, minor road blocks. Here is the Cliff notes.

I went to try to title the "shell"... Since it is from out of state and does not run, it is hard to get an Oregon title.
I went to title the "rolled cruiser"... Since it is from out of state and does not run, it is hard to get an Oregon title.

I don't have the energy to track down both titles, so the "shell" FJ60 is going to put back into the land cruiser pool. It would make and excellent project. I just dont want to deal with it.

The decision to make this a FJ60 buggy just got one step closer. It's not my final decision but it would be the easiest path.

Lol, my projects never go as planned.
