Added a set of Well Visors. I liked the idea of the OEM visors that were on the cruiser when I bought it, but they were in rough shape and a little too large in my opinion. These visors hit a nice happy medium. Happy with the look. Good fitment, easy installation. Covers up the messed up paint on the door from the OEM visors until I get around to repainting the cruiser.

Those wheels 😎🤌

Cheers

I just replaced my M/C on my 1996 LX450. Neither the original, nor the replacement, have that rubber boot.

I am not sure what the purpose would be as there is a paper gasket in between the M/C and the booster. Perhaps Toyota deemed it was not necessary in later years. There is a drain channel on the booster that I used, which that rubber boot would interfere with.

Interesting, good to know. Makes sense, I haven't seen too many instances where the EPC was incorrect

Finished up the brakes. Bled it once, took it on a drive and had a soft pedal. Activated the ABS several times doing panic stops from 40-0 on a gravel road. Bled it again - sequence was right rear - left rear - lspv up - lspv down - left front - right front. Now the brakes are great. I'd say PDI's estimate of 30% increased stopping power with the new booster is pretty accurate. Not a shocking amount but it's noticeable and I think this will work well until I figure out if I want a big brake setup.

Added a fire extinguisher mount that I've had sitting in my parts for a couple years now. Had to use a heat gun to flatten the floormats to make clearance. Next I need to save up for a Halotron.

Then I bounced for the weekend. Met up with a friend in northern AZ/southern UT to do some camping. Truck handled great, no problems.

We were chillin in this cave and a white truck pulled up. Thought it was rangers at first, but then the driver got out wearing a suit with a flower on the lapel. Then a bride and a photographer got out. They were nice but were like, "hey guys, we were hoping to get married in this cave, we've got 30 people on the way..." haha so we left

Tried out my new Morrflate setup for the first time. Pretty great. It's not too much of a hassle to pop the hood and connect it. Hardwired would be nice but I also don't have any room in the engine bay. Maybe a QPM in the future.

Anyway then you hook up the hose to all 4 tires, select your pressure and go. It took 6 min 30s total to fill up all 4 tires from 10 psi to 35 psi.

Incredible, I just ordered the Morrflate as well. Great pictures Max!

Nice, you'll love it. Way better than walking around and crouching by each tire for 5 minutes

What is the name of your cabin fire extinguisher mount? Please don’t say Witts End.
Haha sorry it is. Just tagged you in the other thread. I bought it a couple years ago before the turbo scandal and just never got around to installing it. Delta VS has been making all the WE stuff and I assume they'll get around to the fire extinguisher mount soon

😩😫😑

My driver's seat has been ok for the last couple years but on this last trip, I started feeling real uncomfortable after 4-5 hours of driving.

I wanted to buy some Scheel Manns but they've been hit hard with inflation and/or tarriffs. I swear they were like $1800/ea when I was last shopping (granted that was several years ago.) and now one seat is $2600 plus accessories and shipping. A little out of my budget for now so I decided to refurbish what I have.

You can see the lower cushion was collapsed from getting in and out. Also they were crumbling and leaving foam dandruff all over

I bought the only lower foam I could find - there were two options but one was discontinued so 71511-60130 it is.

Easy-ish process if you're familiar with upholstery. Dismantled the lower seat/sliders and pulled the pad. Removed the hog rings and took the cover off.

Installation was a little tricky because I feel like this foam isn't the same as the JDM foam. Pretty sure this is the foam for the standard leather seats in US cruisers. We made it work though, just had to add foam in one spot on the inside edge:

Also I probably should have added a little bit of foam to the inside of the bolsters. But once we pulled it tight and clipped it in with hog rings it turned out pretty good.

Big improvement. Lot more comfortable now. Just need to break out the fabric cleaner and do a deep clean on the seats.

These are great seats and I shouldn't need to buy Scheel Manns or Recaros for a few years...

Was doing my daily check of the local classifieds to see if there were any land cruiser parts - these ARB drawers out of a 100 Series got posted at a great price so I snagged em. Just need to buy 80 Series wings and some hardware. They cleaned up nicely and look good as new even though they're about 8 years old.

The timing turned out to be fortunate because as I pulled up my carpet to figure out mounting locations, I realized my carpet was wet underneath. Found a little water in the jack compartment - looks like my louvers started leaking when I washed it yesterday. Carpet is drying out now and I'll replace the louvers soon.

The main thing I need to figure out now is how to mount these drawers. This cruiser didn't come with 3rd row seats so I don't have the bolts or reinforced areas that you would normally mount to. I'm thinking about doing it like you do with roll cages and drilling through the floor and adding reinforcement plates.

I'm in a similar boat with seats. Being 6'2" the current seats aren't great, but adding some seat jackers to help. Seriously, Scheelmann seats are absurd now.

If you keep your seats, I really like my seat covers from Escape Gear. Easy install and they look better than OEM, in my opinion.

the lack of a third row has kept me from installing a spare tire inside as i have no desire for swingouts.

Yeah I'm 6'1" and I think I might need the extra thigh support. I might just buy one Scheel Mann. haha

Tried to get the drawers installed before a Moab trip but didn't make it. It'll be a longer term project. I need to get some hardware and L-track for tie downs.

Headed down to Moab for a short trip with a friend. Nothing too interesting, mainly wheeling and camping on some of the forgotten trails west/northwest of Moab. Found some cool two tracks that hadn't been driven on in months at least and my friend found a shed antler.. lucky.

The more I drive this 80 the more I love it. Especially when compared to other platforms, like a TJ (don't tell my friend.) There were some washboards that just rattled his teeth out but I could hit em at 40 mph no problem. I can carry a bunch more cargo, got 18mpg there and back, the rig flexes great, plenty of torque, walks right up ledges, I have AC, cruise control, what more can I ask for?

The 80 is performing great, no huge complaints.

- Handheld GMRS/Alamosa antenna works awesome. We were testing out the range and we could talk to each other while I was still in town (near Milt's/Slickrock area) and he was up by the Potash turnoff so a distance of 5 mi that wasn't even quite line-of-sight.
- The redone driver's seat is ok. Good not great. I think I need to buy a Scheel-Mann driver's seat
- Beadlocks are great, bombing around at 10psi all day. Retorqued the ring bolts the other day and only two were just a hair loose
