Finally getting around to taking the old drums off. Drivers side was a battle, passenger side worse. Last half hour of work was just trying to get the steering arm out. (Still not out).

A little worried about the scoring and wear on the inner axle, might not seal. Probably leak a little.

Marlin has heavy duty replacement seals that the seal rides in 2 different unworn spots on the seal race. You can get them from Cruiser Brothers also.
You don’t want to go through this again when diff oil contaminates the grease.

I just installed those seals. Very nice fit.

I wouldn't be super stressed about the seal surface on a part-time truck, install an HD seal (we stock the Marlin FA33085MA) and be done with it. If it really causes anxiety, we have new replacement shafts :D

It took 6 tries, but finally got the three hole heat riser gasket. With parts came progress. Made new carb spacer gaskets, new thread seal on all vacuum ports, adjusted carb and choke cables. Just need new hoses and we will see if this will run without palming the carb opening.

Knuckle centering tool is inbound too.

Had to do he same on mine years ago.

Any chance those calipers are meant for vented rotors?

You're using non-vented rotors on the front? I thought when they switched from drums to discs, vented was standard?

vented rotors will fix that

Well, after ordering every possible rotor and caliper for Toyota 4wd trucks from 1978-1990, I still have no solution. There are only 3-4 different rotors, and 2 different calipers.

The rotors pictured are solid versions of the standard vented. Same dimensions in every way. No other rotor even fits on the hub except for the one I have (or the vented version).

Confusing as heck. Those knuckles had to come with discs and calipers. But nothing I can find fits? Everything bolts up, just won’t line up.

So, I think I’ll try some spacers.
