Had a couple hours while the kids napped today so I knock out the tie rods. 555 inners and got Moog premium from Rock-auto and to my surprise they were 555’s too. Digging in I measured almost 1/8” play on the inner driver and 1/16” play on the passenger. That is a lot. The outers were still tight. they were an unmarked brand and had been replaced at some time. The outers were missing the cotter pins.
Very little power steering fluid in the boots/ bellows but def more on drivers side. I will put some stop leak in to preserve the rack for a little longer.

Shot them with some engine enamal and 303’d all the rubber. Degreased and 303’d the boots/ bellows and cleaned the clamps.

All done. Anti seize and marine grease where it needs to be.. I also readjusted the driver side Torsion Bar back down 1/4” to level it. Time for an alignment. Amazingly, I found my missing steering rack nut too. It fell in front of the rack and got stuck in the PS lines... I still cannot believe how rust free this truck is.

Got an alignment today. Firestone lifetime alignment (sometimes it takes them a couple times). The front end is so tight now. No more torque steer to the right and diving to the left when letting off the gas. I figure that came from the inner tie rods being so loose.

Still need to do the sway bar bushings and brakes then baseline tuneup and fluids.

Outstanding project well done!...I can't believe how bad the car was at the start. Very impressive.

Did you manage to connect the reverse signal wire to automatically connect? If not let me know as I just did mine behind the glovebox which made it very easy to connect to the pioneer headunit...

I used a multimetre and switched into reverse to find the correct wire...took me about 10 minutes all up and that included pulling out headunit and pushing wire back through into the console. Happy to help.

I did... I found the wire that goes back to the reverse lights in the driver's side kick panel. I just spliced into that.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.

Ok I'll ask. What is that motor going in?
...still looking for an adapter kit to the LC...

Funny, we are not sure yet...
Pops has always wanted to build a blower motor so he did. It is a 400ci Dart Small Block, Scat Crank and rods, JE pistons, Jesel rockers, Weiand 6-71 polished Supercharger, no expense spared... It should put out between 750-800HP.

I have a 57 that I would have to rebuild the entire drive train to handle the HP. My Pops has a 57 that he just wants as a cruiser (283ci and 4sp Auto). He also has a 1930 Ford Rumble Seat Coupe but it already has a wild built 355ci Small Block in it.

We are currently looking for a home for it...
Almost got a 1970 C10... Almost got a Pro street Henry J... Almost got a C3 Vette...

Got all three seats in... Baby 3 will be coming home in a Land Cruiser.

Also pulled off the sunroof wind deflector. I am not sure if these actually do anything or not. Filthy under there.

Congrats again on the third! You're due any day now right?

I removed my wind deflector looked about the same underneath but cleaned right up nicely. It was worth cleaning all the channels while I was up there too and I've found that my sunroof moves a tad smoother. i know some Cruisers have issues with the sunroofs getting jammed, but a quick cleaning can go a long way.

Any day now is right... She thinks it will be about 1 week... I will go with her instincts on this;)

I am back! We had the baby Connor on Tuesday, April 24th. Baby and Mama are doing good!
Guess what! We took the Cruiser to the hospital and got to take baby home.

Mama has been driving the Cruiser for about a week now and she is really happy with it.
Here is three deep in the middle row:

Baby came a week early so I did not quite get finished with everything.

A week before I had some troubles with my 4Runner. Nothing major... a steering rack bellow ripped at some point and ruined the inner tie rod on the passenger side... new ITR, bellow and alignment and that was done. It also lost both O2 sensors and a Catalytic Converter. That preoccupied the time before baby.

The day after we got home from the hospital I got back to work on the LC. I replaced all 5 brake hoses, front brake pads, cut the glaze off the rear pads, replaced brake fluid and bled the brakes, put front and rear sway bar bushings, replaced all the plugs, changed the oil and fuel filter. Sorry no pics... I was busy that day.

Two days later, I was able to spend a couple hours with a clay bar, then polish, then wax the LC and the 4Runner.

I have to get a new windshield sometime soon, change the gear oils and tranny fluid and pull that running board and straighten it but for now I am done...

Congrats on the new family addition sir. Your LC is looking awesome. What a change

Thanks and a special thanks to you for the NAV delete help.

Wait till I get it in a few years!

Congrats on #3!!

Just FYI if it helps anyone else, I bought moog outer tie rods recently and they were 555's as well.

Been a while since I have posted (which is good because I haven’t had to do anything to her). She has been great... my wife loves it, especially the Apple Car Play and seats.
My center top console latch was broken when I got the truck and I used magnets glued in place but it only held for a week or two.
Looking online, I could not find any “Land Cruiser” center console latches so I figured it would be the same on other Toyota models. Low and behold, an eBay search for “upper center console latch Toyota” gave me mostly the lower latch in the results but sprinkled in were similar looking items for the Camry/ Solara and ES300. They came in grey, beige and black. I took the risk at around $25 shipped and it turned out to be a perfect match. I unscrewed the lid and popped off the cover shell (that I previously glued back on after the leather cover install). I used a skinny #1 Phillips to get the two screws out under the push button for the latch. Took the old one out and put the new one in and glued it back together overnight. All done and working great
