can you Send me a picture of your 65 firewall setup ? thank youThe heater lines do indeed go straight out the back of the heaters. The lines would go through the firewall of course and to their connection points in the engine bay. For the air vents. Your plenum on the back should have two ports, one facing up and one facing to the side, so you could direct the heat to the defrost ports at the windshield.
There is no way to turn off the defrost, once the heater is on, the dual fans send hot air forward out the front and the back of the heater.

there is no defrost function on a 64 windshield, just air entry front or down
or is there an hidden function ?
for information my 64 come from USA, was imported by a boat shipping company in sweden, it has the corrugated hartop with the top vent and this clamshell heater densoThat is interesting. Some where I have the information when Toyota added defrost duct to the windshield. It was a couple years before the complete factory installed heater started during 1964. The Nippon Denso heater are rare in the US. Toyota made a deal for a US manufacturer for a kit to install a heater. 65 models had factory heater as an option. 66 on later a heater was installed on all US imported Land Cruisers.
My 64 building didn’t come with a factory heater. Someone added a aftermarket one later. I tore that out and I still need to install my clamshell. I need to make a bracket and probably drill two holes. The brackets that have come with the clamshell heaters I have brought in have all been super simple metal plates with two mounting points. I want to design one with 3-4 mounting points.can you Send me a picture of your 65 firewall setup ? thank you
This wild! I love the fresh air intake from the kick-vent! That is a first for me. So cool. Here is a rare option i thin’k....never seen another one.

There are 2 little doors.Looks like there’s a little door on the front that directly let’s in vent air when not running the heater.

I haven't seen anything in a catalog with that add-on yet. But maybe one will pop up!Most cruiser photos I have seen just have the clamshell. No fresh air intake... which is a pretty pimpin add-on!
Awesome! I'll update the heater blog post to include some of the photos you sent.i sent mail with pictures to your website
