I also asked the other guys in the shop and only 1, he's 5 years older than me, remembers operating older loaders
the other guys had no idea about the old iron

980g close to what state uses around here, but use Volvo 🧐🤔, loader so quiet can't even hear it coming 😲😳😉.

the company has a Volvo L220 which is equivalent to the 980 Cat
we've also got some smaller Volvos that construction crews use

Hope everyone in the path of this nasty storm starting tomorrow is ready.

At farm expecting15” snow maybe little ice before. Then darn cold windchills negative10-14.

Equipment ready to be plugged in, diesel all treated groceries stocked up. Mom and dad taken care of.

Living where we do I have couple miles of road to clear with tractor since we will be last in line for county to help. Always fun to get coffee and just push snow and listen to tunes in the heated cab.

Stay safe!

That ain't how you do it. You're suppose to put on everything you own, drink a shot of anything with high alcohol content and hop on your old Ford tractor, hoping your fingers don't go numb and your face doesn't fall off, before the job is done. :hillbilly:

Did that prior to the cab, I’ll take the cab these days.

My neighbor Benj across road in Steamboat lacked a cab, I’d just go blow snow around his place to save him the misery.

Something about growing wiser with age?

Or maybe a tractor with a cab, something modern men can't live without nowadays.
Grew up baling hay in cabbed Ford which I thought was so cool at 14. Turns out Ac didn’t work nor did the radio! Despite AC never working each time I would turn roof top unit would piss all over me.

I preferred the Allis Chalmers when I could use it.

put me in the I'll take some modern stuff, like a closed cab and heat and A/C.
I don't seem to recover like I used to 25-30 years ago
