Ask for Rex

You will have to repaint the hood. There will be some dings, scratches, and dents added to other areas of the hood as it is very hard for one man to hold a hood by hand and work with it for a few hours. I couldn't be happier with the results.

Mike, what did you end up doing under the louvers to direct the water from key components?

Easily the nicest LC I've seen.

Nothing yet but the plan is to add a catch under them with a drain to the rear of the wheel wells. Anyone that has dropped a bolt in the engine compartment and found it by the sliders will know what path am talking about. I am thinking I will space it down about an inch so air can still pass but water will drain. The charcoal canister is under the left and the cruise control is under the right one.

look at the baffles they show in the link above.

Here is what I envision and it should be really simple to make. Then the idea would be to weld it to the hood (being as it will need to be painted anyhow. Black nylon tube would attach to the nipple to the edge of the hood and then down to the inner fender well.

Nice. I want some.

Seriously one of the slickest looking 80's in white Ive seen. Nice work!

OUTSTANDING! Love how it turned out, looks awesome.

Question - is there enough room between the canister/cruise control and the hood for a catch? I would imagine based on the angle of the hood and the need for the catch to be angled towards the rear or front of the vehicle that you would be talking at least an inch to two inches of space being needed...would that impact clearance issues of the hood?

Cheers.

I'm gonna hike my leg and pee on your junk in hopes that will claim it as my territory.

Sweet junk!

Considering the thickness of the hood insulation I would think so. It wouldn't need to drop very low.

Anyone else get this done by Custom Auto of Loveland? I am working on a Colorado trip sometime in August/September and if it would work out I would really like to get this done.

I'm debating it right now, just need to call them up and see if they can still do it... looks like Treeroot did it about 2 years ago

That looks really good. Adds to an already sweet 80.

After seeing this Ive been eying this old but straight 2nd gen pickup skid plate I have laying around. Its got some nice louvers...... Would be a huge pain to weld in though.
