decided that the cabin is to far forward! so im moving the effn thing back 160mm i wont be running a fan. just 2 thermo fans notched into the grill. im also notching the front light surround out 20mm to get the whole cabin back as far as possible. ive made my passenger gaurd up. ended up stretching it 140mm over standard. heres a few pics of where the front wheel will sit once i move the cabin back.

This is not just interesting but amazing that you have the patients to do this conversion and it looks great by the way

Your making great progress there. I like your rear fender tubing work and the shortened tub looks tops.
Ya gotta love ebay right?! My last 80 series I had and the BJ40 i've got now are all powered by ebay. It's great for finding odd things that you think you need!

thanks mate. it is time consuming sh!t if i had more patients it would be done alot quicker lol. and falco80 i agree with u on ebay ive gotten so many bargains of there over the years and sold plenty too. and very easy to spend money on stuff u dont need :D Heres a piccy of the tube guard done. just needs a skim of bog.

You are connecting the tube fenders to the frame and the body? Aren't you worried about the flex of the body panels vs the frame and frame mounted tube?

well i kinda figured that the front of the chassis where its mounted wouldnt flex a great lot. because its pretty well braced with that front crossmember. ill just have to see how it goes. if worse comes to worse ill have to make the front guards all one peice and a pivot point in the middle.

I don't really know other than what I've heard others say about frame mounted roll cages and their interaction with body sheet metal. The body panels are connected to body mount bushings, allowing a bit of flex, plus some of the various panels on the front of a 40 are connected to each other allowing some movement between them... while frame mounted (welded especially) DOM tube will tend to not flex in relation to the frame.

This is, by the way, an awe-inspiring build...

i was thinking bout it last night. if it really starts to twist and play up ill cut the pipe where its connected at the chassis and make up some kind of rubber bush/joint type of mount. kinda like a body mount. ill have to get it running and flex it out to see if this happens. thanks for your concern mate.

Thanks for taking the time to do this thread. I am working on something similar.

well today i got a bit done. fitted up my radiator. mounted thermo's made up a battery bracket and got a coat of primer on the cabin and bonnet. ive started to buy some goodies for it. i picked up a pair of bosch marine battery's 700cca, different set of leds stop/tail and indicator. flush fit one. and some front indicators. and also thought id buy myself some personalised plates for the old girl.
