AUStoUSA,

Just out of curiosity, what would you estimate it would cost to ship it to say the west coast of the US?

Not going to buy this, can't have that many toys, but just interested in a ballpark cost.

Thanks

All,

I had contacted Sandy about buying this, and had every intent to. I backed out of the sale, not because of anything to do with the condition or Sandy, but simply from the shipping costs. I used to import engines out of Japan, but the all in costs for getting this HJ all the way to my house was just more than I wanted to dig into at this time.

I'll post some of the photos I received as well. I spoke with Sandy via Skype, great guy, and more than helpful with all of the transaction details. As AustoUSA already posted, the shipping costs are about $4k plus transport to wherever you live from the port. One of the big variables I had, was how the gov't here classified the vehicle: as a car, or as a truck. A truck has a 25% import fee, which really adds up compared to a car at 2.5%. Regardless, you need to be prepared to spend 4-5k to get it to your door.

OilHammer that is not correct, they come in as a SUV and the duty is 2.5% and is included in the "about $4k"

I will be in Sydney next week and can offer an independent verification on the condition of this rig if anyone is interested?

That's what I assumed, and that "trucks" are things like NPR box trucks and such. Doesn't matter, I did the math based on 2.5%, I just didn't phrase that well. Your figure you quoted was pretty spot on. Then add local shipping from LAX to the middle or opposite side of the country and you get the "between 4-5k" I was referring to. :)

I got few quote from different shipping company's port to port syd to lax was about $2000 but not sure about the tax and charges when it gets to lax.

Anyway the Hj still for sale if anyone is interested

Just to clarify, we don't ship to LAX, wouldn't send my worst enemy there. We ship to Portland, Oregon. There is also a possibility we could ship to Charlotte, NC.

thapa1978 the other quotes you got would not have been all inclusive, from start to finish. A lot of shipping companies play that BS game and then when they hit you up at the end for all the other charges you have no choice but to pay or loose the rig. We would rather be up front and tell it how it is.

Good luck with the sale.

Hi everyone,

In a circumstance like this, is there a safe way to make a purchase where I'm guaranteed to receive the LC? Has anyone found a way to guarantee this like a COD option or something; escrow?

Daito, we are a US company with a offices in Australia and can offer an inspection OR a verification of condition, secure handover of funds (paid into Wells Fargo, transferred to Australia and paid tot he seller in cash), preparation, packing, shipping, clearance into the USA through Customs. Cheers
