Hey everyone.
I just wanted to introduce myself as I'm new to the forum. I've got what used to be a 1977 fj40 (before rust got to her). I have huge dreams for her including a full frame off rebuild/restoration. If anyone has any advice or tips or trick I'd gladly welcome them. I will post pictures as soon as I am able.

Welcome to Mud, and the mental illness that are 40's.

Welcome to the site. You have definitely come to the right place if you are looking to restore a cruiser.....but I gotta ask a few questions.

Are you mechanically inclined? Are you good at bodywork? Do you have a good amount of tools, and a nice spot to work on a project such as the one you mentioned? If you have these things covered everything else is a breeze since it's available to you via this remarkable site.

Oh, it's a must that you post pics of your rig. Sort of a "right of passage" kinda thing. It will temporarily curb our need for cruiser porn.

Why do you say they are a mental illness sir?
it is a work of love --you will find all sorts of help/links/advice here. Before long, you will be thinking about the next mod/repair you need to do---ALL the time!--That is certainly not a bad thing--you will learn way more than you ever thought possible about your truck--every nut/bolt/washer/gasket/pump/pulley-etc.--you will wonder how you ever survived the Cruiser addiction without MUD--

welcome ... hmmm, is it drivable or can it be drivable ... my suggestion is change fluids, make sure its safe, and drive it for a while (if possible) so it gets to know you, and you get to know it ... do some of the refurb while you're able to drive/enjoy it ... nothing more motivating than knowing how much better it will look like/drive based on your experience driving it before starting a huge frame-off project ... looking forward to following your progress ...

I am mechanically inclined, and I went to school for electronics. I have a good amount of Cornwell hand tools and will get whatever else I need. I have a car and a half garage with shelving for parts and 2 work benches as well as 5 fluorescent light fixtures for working on things. This garage is strictly for working on vehicles. The next project is setting the garage up the rest of the way then putYing the cruiser in there and do a full tear down.
