I'm about to pull the plug on a Troopy and so will be getting rid of my FJ Cruiser. I would like to get a good solid toyota car for a daily driver. Naturally I'm going to bring my obsessed attitude to this just like I would a cruiser.
I'm seeing several 90s Camrys for what seem to me to be very reasonable prices. One is a 6 cyl with 175k miles for $3300. So it got me wondering if there are good vs great engines from this Era. For one thing the v6 only gets about 25 mpg and I've heard there is a simpler 4cyl. Was this a corolla engine maybe? The 1MZ-FE seems to be well thought of but what is like to find is the equivalent of the 2trFE, a basically eternal little sewing machine that I can get to work in reliably and maintain obsessively as one does.
So what are my options and your advice?
