The new part number is 08886-01805 It is the 2.5 quart metal cans. It retails for $58.57.

Is that a new metal can or the old metal can that can be trusted? That wasn’t widely available before but I don’t know what part number that was. This not the same one widely been used abroad is it?

If so this may give a little credit to my plastic bottle/cap dissolution theory.

my local toyota dealer confirmed they received new AHC fluid manufactured in december this year.
I will update once I buy and see how the fluid looks in a clear bottle and filter net.
false info, the 1 qt bottles were shipped in dec to the dealer. I insisted them to check if they are contaminant free, the lady talked to toyota parts head office and after the call she said she is not selling them and we have to wait for metal 1 liter cans to arrive. These 1 qt bottles are discontinued.

I am not sure if it is a new can or the old one. It is the same part number as the one widely used abroad. This can is being shipped to the toyota/lexus dealerships. Shows in transit to the dealerships. Mcgeorge Toyota shows it in inventory and discounted at $39.76.

mcgeorge is a good parts dealer. fast shipping.

Wow.

Any official statement?
Any lawyers here? lol

I'm down to last 3 bottles of a case I purchased from local Toyota dealership, last April. I've not had any issues with it. At least none I know about.

Anyone have a handle on when this jell, first was found in qt AHC fluid bottles?

Is jelly only seen in fluid, form freshly opened bottle?

Any official word form Toyota/Lexus?

Just picked up a couple cans at Stevinson Toyota West. I think I'll inspect it anyway. Girl at the parts counter said she hadn't heard of any issues, but they would probably say that anyway. I think these were recently delivered.

For the last few years the cans were not readily available and it was in plastic 1L bottles.
So, yes, that is probably very fresh. Or +3 years old.

I got mine shipped in a day from mcgeorge toyota. Did the full bleed and refill.
One observation. the front bleed valves took a while to get the clear pink fluid but the rear bleed valves were almost instantly showing pink fluid.
I ran my truck as I was bleeding to prevent any codes and pressure issues. (I over filled the reservoir to make sure I have enough fluid.)
I had to clean the reservoir with household cleaners to be able to see the fluid level under light.

are metal cans verifiably contaminant free?
I can't answer that but the new fluid part number is on the plastic bottles and the plastic bottle itself seems to be the problem.

I reached out to McGeorge and they're out of stock and said this:

"Part number 08886-01805 is on a large national back order. This component could take us weeks, if not months, to acquire from Toyota once an order is placed before the order would be shipped out to you."

Has anyone ordered these from PartSouq? Their site says 6k+ available. Shipping is pretty steep at $80 for 2 but the per can cost is just $28.61. Anyone around Los Angeles need some???

They have it on their eBay store as well for slightly more.

Partsouq has been good for me for oem parts, no clue if their fluid is good or contaminated.

Call around to your local Dealerships.

I had a case of plastic bottle picked up May 2021, no issues what so every. I suspect the bad one some are getting, sat in the heat/sun.

A week ago, I purchased 2 tin cans from same local dealership. They'd had no notice or TSB, just tin cans again.

Local Lexus Dealership, which sees much more AHC work. Had internal notice to filter AHC fluid. I'd not use, but the were!

Same here. Bought a 1l plastic bottle from a Toyota dealer and after adding fluid, noticed this. Now AHC would not raise or lower. Dealing with dealership, Corporate Toyota and Corporate Lexus was a waste of time. Dealer wanted $4,600 to replace. Removed AHC and went with Dobinson IMS.

Damn dude you rage quit on AHC? lol.
@Madtiger come collect your reward.

At least get compensation man, there is plenty of evidence that this is their fault and youre performing recommend maintenance by the book.

Everyone I spoke to was, "We have never heard of that happening" I needed heavier springs anyway, so it grip it and rip out

Seems Toyota Corp knows they've and issue with fluid. But is keeping silent on subject, not even informing Dealership.

My local Toyota dealership knew nothing, other than they now receive cans vs plastic bottles. I wanted to return some plastic bottles out of abundance of caution. They were willing to take unopened, but not opened. Why not take unsealed, if stuff is bad I asked: "Going back on the shelf for resale, since no notice from Toyota of any issues with AHC fluid." I've know the Toyota parts guy 22 years and have a good relation with him. If he knew something he'd say!

So I filter last 2 bottles sealed and the one unsealed by me. They were perfectly fine. I've used and have not had any issues. But again it was from case purchased early spring in 2021.

On a side note. Seems AT-205 is nearly impossible to get, which is a plasticize. Also most mechanics gloves I get these days, fall apart. Could it be some chemical, possibly out of China, in short supply forcing alternative. Resulting in bad rubbers & plastics!
