Finally done polishing this old turd!! So now it is time to start installing new parts!

Pretty ridiculous finish for a Cruiser I plan to off-road pretty hard!! 🤦‍♂️

Man I like this color A LOT, kind of wish I had of used it for more than the side stripe.

Oh ya, done with the last parts for paint too.

These are new, just tore them down and painted them.

These are pretty much new too, just tore down to paint and reassembled after.

Going to install a cut down piece of trim here at the bottom of the quarter window.

I sure am happy with how it is turning out! 😋

Nice to have a steering wheel in it even if we still have to push it around.

This rear 3/4 shot really shows off the solid work, we have seen several 80 chops but I don't think we have seen one that has been done with this level of near OEM look. This is exactly what an extended cab 80 would have looked like if Toyota made one.

This is the non-US front fender turn signal lights. I am currently looking for clear lens for these in Japan.

Cleaning shop today came across the original mock up trim piece for here, yup that’s what I am after. Need to order new ones as there be none in the stash.

I am sure way back in the build thread I mentioned it but this is a new OEM 91-92 steering wheel. I like the vinyl steering wheels the most! The four spoke air bag version for 93+ have been NLA forever as well as the leather. For some reason this one is still (last I checked) still floating around new. I also have four spoke black vinyl from a poverty pack 100-series that may work too. Probably going with this 3-spoke though because the 91/92 column for it is now refreshed and…

IMG_0925.webp

I got a few of these new OEM black clam shells to go with the 3-spoke black steering wheel.

IMG_0926.webp

Last I recall from checking awhile back the 100-series wasn’t so plug and play due to clamshell at the minimum.

Cheers

100-series 4-spoke black vinyl which is also Superbad in my opinion!!

It does fit up center diameter and spline count.

🤦‍♂️🤨🧐

How about something picture wise besides paint/body pics!? 😆

Having never installed the Black Box I am assuming we will need to tear down the tcase to install this monster in it.

Stock tcase input.

A black box in the wild, this just keeps getting better.

Manual transmission rock crawler too! 4.53 1st gear in the H152, what is it in the 343, 2.80?

Stellar Built just released a video on fitting the BB in an 80, their low low range gear calculations is 8.5:1 with the 343. I am substantially lower in first with the manual transmission. In the video they state with the BB you have a 3-speed tcase, it’s actually a 4-speed. Normal 1:1 high range, high range with BB engaged (BB is 2.85is), normal low range (3.11 in my tcase with low range gears), and finally low low which is low in tcase with BB engaged.

It’s the same thing basically as the Ranger Torque splitter box from Advanced Adapters. I had that in a 60 with a v8 and the stock 4spd. It was super fun to drive due to so many gear options.

Cheers

Oh My...
The 2 tone colors are so attractive.
Is this a customer rig or yours?
What's going to be on the rear?
