Just talked to Robert Bishop (owns the warehouse with his father Bob Bishop) - a very nice guy. He is actually friends with impossible, who donated the 2F and tranny. He is going to bring some tables, a canopy, floor jack and a few other things. He is also opening up an adjacent warehouse to give us some extra room.

There will be room for campers at the warehouse and access to water (no water hook-up) and no dumping on-site, but if you have a pull behind camper bring 'er!
 
OK so we have been working for the past 2 full days getting parts cleaned and ready for this weekend. As of now everything is cleaned and in Powder and ready to reassemble tomorrow.

The engine is bolted to the new trans and un-cracked t-case with a New Flywheel, Clutch, Disk, Pilot and Throwout bearing. We also installed a New water pump and will have all new Hoses and Belts installed before it arrives Sat AM. The engine will have all new gaskets and seals as well (Oil Pan, Front cover and seal, Lifter Cover, Rear Main seal, Valve Cover etc.)

All of the front Disk Brake parts are cleaned and ready to reassemble with the new Axle Kit that should be at the shop shortly. Rotors will get turned tomorrow and we also have New Pads to install when it all goes back together.

As far as the Metal Tech Cage is concerned I plan to lead the build so it shouldn't be to big of a deal to get it mostly assembled and tacked into place and maybe even begin welding depending on how far we get.

Let the fun begin.

Also we are planing on bringing whatever tools that we may need so If it isn't there we will likely have it with us.

This is the engine as it sits but we will have it almost completely assembled and ready to drop in before it gets to the build on Saturday.

Steve, I see you have a tube notcher. I had no luck with that. however I will have the 74 tub it has no doors or dash like I said it is a bare(for the most part) tub there friday am. I am gathering what tools I think you could use now. I'm bringing 28 gallon compressor, chop saw, do you need engine hoist? propane jet heater, is there any more big stuff you need? give me a list for small stuff( metric tap/die, air tools,hand tools) it's easy for me to supply ya'll with that, I'm close.

We will need an engine hoist unless Steve plans to lift the drivetrain into the truck by himself.

We will also need the original drivetrain on site as well so that we can swap things like motor mounts, t-case linkages and driveshaft flanges onto the new one.

A metric tap and die set would be awesome. Also easy outs, air tools and a smattering of hand tools that you wouldn't mind loaning would rock. I can mark your tools with some electrical tape to keep them separate.

We couldn't bring a dirty engine.

Also we will need a 2F air cleaner assembly if anyone has one sitting around. Spence's engine didn't have one when we pulled it.

Will you be using a 79 and later? If so there are two versions and the relation to the carb is off a tad. If you could even bolt up the carb and lay the air cleaner on to verify I might just have one I got back from the powder coater's that would work.

I also sent a stupid amount of decals to go on this truck, please make sure the engine gets them installed.

Talking with Brian on the phone the other day firming up the delivery of the cage, man they have a ton of prep they have/are doing/done.

Mike, good to hear you guys are heading up the cage build. Sorry to toss that on you guys, you sure have enough on your plate with the build as it is. If you have a cage build team person that needs to ask a few pointers, see photos etc. have them call me. (how to notch tube, how to put the cage in etc.) The least I can do is field a few questions on build day that might allow you to focus on #1-1000 on the over all to do list!

Shoot I own an off road shop and I would take my truck to ACC if I was in GA!

hortonb- a local and the Reeves can bring an engine hoist so you can leave yours.

I have an air cleaner off of a 83 60 that we can use. It will need paint though but we could do that the day of the build. Will mine work or should we go with Shane's (AATLAS1X)?

I'll be packing up tonight. The back of my FJ is already loaded down with fluids, shop supplies, etc. I'll be packing all the parts I was mailed plus some random spare parts I have that I'll bring just for good measure.

I'll be rolling into ATL around 530ish on Thursday to pick up our CA contingent at the ATL airport.

This is such a humbling experience.
I have a borrowed engine hoist that I can bring with the old drive train. (The new engine looks great!) I am completely speechless.
Thanks to everyone. This is unbelievable.
 
Any 2F air cleaner should work because Marshall has the spacers to fill the gap.

Steve if you have one from an FJ60 that would be preferable. I have one at the shop that we can clean and powder but it belongs to a customer so I would have to replace it. IE I will trade you your dirty one for a newly Powder Coated one.

The discussion of tools needed prompted me to recall the ReTool store on Epps Bridge Parkway. They have used tools for sale. If something turns up missing that we need, this could be a handy resource. They are located in the Home Depot-Kroger stripmall as you get to Athens on 316 (probably less than a mile from the Springhill Suites).

Shouldn't be needed, but info in case.

start time for sunday/monday I dont want to show up at 6 am sunday and wake every body :grinpimp:

call me if I can bring anything on sunday you find you need

anybody bringing a few cans of PB blaster or KROIL, maybe James can start hitting every bolt he can see today or early this week, esp. body bolts, having those things sit for a few days in pb will help tremendously instead of breaking a ton of them and having to drill them out...
