Did you have to do a bmc also? I have a set of -38 ray10 on order plus "33 ko2. Just wondering how much cutting needs to be done

Yes. I did. I have not yet done the lower A arm trick. Right now it only rubs on extreme compression on tight turns. Once I move my wheel forward I don’t think I’ll have any problems in the rear at all. May have to chop a little more of my bumper though.

Excuse my ignorance but what's the lower A arm trick? Is it the same as adding castor to move the wheel forward?

Yes, rotate the back of the A-arm out & rotate the front in.

Figured I would finally post some photos of my GX. This forum was so useful when I did my work last summer. Thank you all.

2006 GX470

- Front Suspension: Bilstein B8 6112 Lift Kit (46-227287), set to circlip location #3.
- Rear Shocks: Bilstein B8 5100 (33-187174)
- Rear Springs: Bilstein B12 special (36-281824)
- Rear Coil Conversion Kit: Metal Tech Stage 1. Purchased new OEM spring seats from online Toyota dealer.
- Wheels/Tires: 2019 4runner TRD Off Road Road wheels with 265/70/17 Bridgestone Dueler HT 684II tires. Wheels/tires came as package as they were take-offs from a brand new 4runner at the time. Waiting for tires to wear out. When they do I am going to go with Cooper AT3 4S or Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Adventure w/Kevlar.

I have put on 10,000 miles since I completed the work in June 2020. This includes a road trip to Grand Tetons NP and Glacier NP from Minneapolis. Ride quality is great both on and off road. I got a 2 inch lift in front and 2 inch lift in back. Before and after photos below....

Upgraded the stock suspension/spacer up front to a full extended travel Icon kit with resi’s and billet UCA’s w/the Delta Joints (buttery smooth, definitely maintained that Lexus “comfort” ride on the street). I still kept the airbags w/1.5 in. spacers in the rear (+ airbag trick, spacers keep bags at stock pressure) and some Icon 2.5 non-resi’s -planning to go w/the Aussie AirbagMan kit eventually and some 35’s as soon as my 33’s are dead. Next mod will be sliders cerakoted white to match and probably some TRD beadlocks in bronze because I think the stock wheel backspacing will be a problem with bigger tires. Wanting to keep the stock look but I may eventually do some color matched bumpers too. I do have a full size, deflated spare in the stock location.

I bought them from a mud member, they were a bit hard to find here but apparently they are pretty common to come by in AUS. The specs for the spacers were posted by the person I bought them from in a thread awhile back if u have a way to get them made...

Good Year Wrangler Ultraterrain AT
1.25" spacers
Stock 17" wheels
2" front lift 2.5" rear

Thoughts - at stock height a lot of cutting and modifying in order to get these tires to not rub. Took care of all of that and then lifted so did things backwards.

Would like a larger tire but just don't see anyway to mount a larger and wider tire without getting into the body mount issue.

Question - what is the largest recommended lift with stock components (without airbags)?
