Ok, so a smog delete for a 91-92 apparently does wonders (cheaply) for MPG. Is there any such mods on an FZJ 80, particularly a 93 or 94 (Pre obd 2)? I have searched the forum for MPG and Milage, and can't really find any great answers.

What kind of numbers have people seen for things like:
Electric fans
Air-pump
Cat deletes
headers,
intakes
Other?

My goal is to bump up a couple of MPG if possible, but without spending $$$$$ to do it (kinda defeats the purpose, right?).

Hence the sparsity of information.

Get one of those hybrid stickers and put it on the rear window. That should get you something.

The new Daimler benz I6 is making good numbers using a borg-warner electric supercharger and a twin scroll turbo.

Perhaps something along those lines could make a difference.

Yes, but thats $$$$$ I assume, kind defeats the purpose.

Reading through the forum, I read that new oe o2 sensors can help a little bit. Apparently the old ones get "lazy." Thats on my list.

I hate these threads, but will go ahead ask what exactly are you getting? (MPG)

I'm getting about 14-15 after a ton of PM (air filter, dist cap, plugs, wires, hoses, my other sensors are original, no CELs). I'm also completely stock on stock tires (lx450). My exhaust is shot though: super rusted and multiple patches with the original o2 sensors. I have read of people on here getting 17-18 with the non diesel and I don't know how they do it unless they are exaggerating.

I calculate with miles on the trip divided by gallons pumped (I do 2 clicks every time after it gets full).

I'm at 9.5 mpg.

It's a land cruiser. It's part of the joy of ownership, and part of the cost of ownership.

The cost indeed! Aside from a GWagon and probably a Land Rover, this is probably the most expensive SUV to own. But since its better than those, it's worth it!

My 3FE gets 11-13 with a 2" lift on 33s. I consider myself on the high and blessed end of the spectrum.
