If you have a LEX6 VLine2, i can send you the .56 firmware, of you can contact Grom support. They are pretty responsive to troubleshooting. And that may be safer in case we dont have the exact same models.
I also have a 2010, would love the .56 firmware. They've sent me firmware privately before, would rather not bother them too much if you've got it to send.

Thanks!

After dealing with issues for six months on my 2nd vline with them, I finally received my refund today. A time wasting nightmare.

I’ve got an issue that I’m guessing is a loose connection somewhere, but figured I’d see if anyone else experienced this.

Occasionally my stereo will start cycling through inputs. It seems to happen when I have a strong bump on the right side of the vehicle (my Grom is in my glovebox) but not always.

What’s weird is that my stereo will rotate through inputs, AM/FM, Sat, etc which might lead to think it wasn’t a Grom issue but something funky with the stereo itself. However the Grom kind of gets reset when this happens, whatever I’m listening to, like a podcast or song, will start over from the beginning.

Pretty odd. Anyone else have anything like this happen?

Selling my VL2 LEX7T_ if anyone is interested

Just installed my grom yesterday for my LX470. Everything is working fine however, after sitting overnight when I tried to start the truck this morning, everything basically just cut out like the battery disconnected. Has anyone had this happen?

I thought maybe I left the negative terminal a little loose, but checked it and it was still tight and making good contact. Went and tried to start it again and the truck started right up, but the clock was reset and everything started up like the battery was completely disconnected when it never was…

Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue before I rip it out and get a refund.

I should clarify that when I tried to start the truck, nothing happened. I did not stop at Acc/on before going to start. I’ve since switched it to on before going to start, but still not sure how the grom shut down everything. It was like the battery was disconnected. Pulled the key out and then checked the cable/terminal and then tried again and it fired right up.

How do you feel about the resolution on your 2010 with the GROM? I have a 2011. I had a GROM in a 2006 GX and sent it back bc it looked like 8bit Nintendo. Any pics or video?

Can the RES still be used while using the Grom?? Kids in the back need entertainment and I need navigation and Amazon music…

I have an 08 and resolution is fine. Not being able to tap and drag is way more of a limitation than the screen resolution.

So you have to hit the arrows to move to the next screen? Not a big deal for me bc 8 apps should cover me.

Yea it’s fine most of the time but some Android native apps like Gaia are useless without multitouch.

so GROM has an open ticket about looking into adding swipe feature to Carplay.

They had initially replied to my question that our OEM screens were no optimized for swipe gestures which makes sense.
so they didn't allow swipe in carplay
in android mode it can swipe but I fine it to be kinda bad....
but I'd like the option of swipe or arrows

But I sent them videos of EC Offroad units allowing for swipe in carplay so I think they are working on it.

Maybe if you guys also email regarding this feature they will work on it quicker

So I installed the Grom vline on my 2013 lx570 installation went pretty good. But I'm having a issue with the sound, I'm not getting any sound from the system. I tried resetting it, turning on/off the vehicle, Still nothing. Any idea ?

The real answer is to contact GROM. Their customer service isnt bad.

If I was trouble shooting I’d start by seeing if the input on the factory radio seems to be connected. On my 2010 (LEX6), the GROM uses the USB input. So if you hit the “factory ui” button, you should be able to see it say something like “Vline” across the album/artist/genre lines on the USB input.

I have a VLine in my 2013 LC. Support has been great, but can’t seem to figure out some strange behavior. After driving a bit, the unit cuts out to the factory “Connected” screen for a second, and then a moment later it does it again. Usually it’s fine then for a while, then it will do it again. The audio is not interrupted during this (except once). I don’t think there’s any issues with the connections, as I’ve installed a new harness and unit, but always had the same problem.

Unrelated, anyone have issues with the USB port having a weak connection? Like the plug doesn’t quite go in all the way and firmly seat?

Contact GROM, sounds like a firmware issue that needs to be rolled back.

I’ve been working with them on the issue for the past year, so I thought I would check in here to see if anyone else had the same issue.

At least add which VL2 you are using and what vehicle it is plugged into. This is the problem with all these threads. The complaints are typically as much user error as anything else, and useless without enough info to actually apply to anyone else's use case.

1. I can say that my wireless Carplay with my iPhone works perfectly 90% of the time. I get in the car and within 20 seconds of startup Carplay is running on my OEM system with no intervention by me. There are settings on the phone and Grom that must be configured properly.
2. Have you adjusted the audio interface on your OEM system? On the LEX6 in a 2010-11 LX570, you have to adjust the audio settings for the USB interface. This improves sound quality greatly. For most VLine units there really isn't much reason to have poor audio unless something is broken or misconfigured. In the scenario listed here it's a digital connection between the VLINE2 and the OEM stereo.
3. Is this in Carplay/AA mode, or the built in app. Either way, it's most likely not the VLINE2's fault. It's most likely an app issue. I use Amazon music with no issues through Carplay.
4. I've only had to unplug mine one time in over a year that i've had mine.
5. I don't use the USB port, so can't speak to this.
6. For my unit there is a firmware that works better than others to mitigate this. (I would still consider this a VLINE2 issue, in case it sounds like i'm being a complete apologist)
7. I can't really remember having this issue, but considering the hardware and OS of a Vline2, it's entirely possible.
8. this sounds like the same complaint as above
9. Massive numbers of variables here again. Now you are adding different Vlines, different phones, and different Wifi connections into the equation. I can say, i've never had issue flipping my Iphone hotspot from Carplay to the native Android OS wifi connection when i want Android to have access to wifi. Possibly there is some confustion on your part about what the device is capable of. If you are connected to wireless carplay/AA, you can not simultaneiously have the GROM Vline2 on wifi (for internet access for native apps)
10. I don't use AA so can't speak to it's function.
11. I have found my iPhone to typically be the problem in these scenarios. When I get disconnected, I have found that if I start killing background apps on my phone, it will usually reconnect once enough are shut down. Insome cases, the phone just won't connect, and in other cases the phone will disconnect after 3-4 hours of playing fine. In either case, stopping apps on my phone resolves the issue.

I'm not trying to pick on you here or anything, just pointing out that at least some versions of the hardware running in some versions of 200 series work pretty well. Also, it's a fairly technical piece of kit, so some care has to be taken into setting it up properly to get the functionality you want out of it.

My biggest gripe is trying to get my phone to only connect to the OEM bluetooth for calling. I suspect this is more a Carplay/iPhone issue, but Carplay always wants control of the call. Even after I force the call over to the OEM connection, sometimes CarPlay will grab it back and move it over the Vline2. The Vline2 mic interface is far inferior to the OEM bluetooth calling, so this is frustrating when it happens.

1. My VL2 never auto connects to my wireless hotspot.
Your hotspot on your phone or you have a separate hotspot. Search YOU TUBE. GROM has started a series of how to videos.

2. Music App sound quality is very poor
Mind sounds good on my LC 200. There is an auto mic gain adjustment. Check all
Your connections.

3. Amazon music: play a song for 5 seconds and stops.
For me it’s Spotify. A lot of times it just forwards to the next podcast episode randomly. I have found success hard resetting my iPhone and clears up issues. Also I think if you drive thru a cellular dead spot the phone kinda freaks out and looks for Wi-Fi and cellular signal and it breaks the connection to the GROM which causes some of these glitches with wireless CarPlay

4. will occasionally freeze and i have to unplug and plug it back in to reset
Weird. I can usually navigate to reboot grom in the setting update menu when it freezes. Plus if you turn the car off after a few hours the grom should reset.

5. sometimes does not recognize that my phone is plugged in.
I only use wireless CarPlay. If you using a cable maybe try a new one. Crazy how fragile these cables can be

6. screen we sometimes go blank
?

7. If i go to settings, it will occasionally crash
?

8. if I go to Wifi settings, it will occasionally crash

9. even if i am connected to wifi, it will act as if i am not

I answered a few questions in the quote but I think you need to discuss with grom. They have been very responsive and helpful for me sorting out the issues and they will send you old firmware files if yours was more stable before an update.
