I have noised that many of the Toyota LC's interior on the newer 80's are tan and not just a light tan but a in your face tan.
I have seen this in other Toyota vehicles along with the 100's.
Is this true that there are more tan interiors on the newer 80's?
What year did they go mostly tan and am I waisting my time looking for a gray interoir in a 97 80?

it seems that they started doing that more heavily in 96-97,but when I was shopping i found that alot of the white ones had the darker interior,so no your not wasting your time , good luck

While searching intensively the second half of last year for a 97 80, I found quite a few with grey interior. As I was looking for tan at the time, it seemed to me that everytime I found the perfect one, it wound up having grey interior!

Having had both I can say IMO it really doesn't matter.

As long as the exterior is Pearl Sage...............:grinpimp:

Its not "tan" its "oak" and my 97 is not at all tan to my eyes it is more of a well, "oak" color!

Just my observation... when I was looking more of the later 80's (96'/97') had the oak interior vs. grey. Certain exterior colors seem to be more popular with the grey interior like white and black.

Grey interior in my 95 Marilu ..

The tan/oak looks yellow to me and I wont have it.

It will look much better when you get cataract surgery.

All LXs are Oak so don't even bother looking for one with factory gray guts. The Oak has a luxurious and sophisticated look.

Personally, I like the OAK interior but the gray is easier to get replacement parts for. Don't know why Toyota doesn't carry stock on the Oak?

What is the story with this center console. That thing is SWEET....

*EDITED* Oh the dash is different too, must be a newer model cruiser.

That is an older model 80 but it is the VX trim the rest of the world got. That center console has a mini-fridge/freezer.

Most, if not all, Middle Eastern spec cruisers have that center console! As mentioned above it's a mini fridge with what's supposed to be 2 ice trays!

My 1997 GXR has it and so did the 1991, 1993, 1995, and 40th anniversary 1997 VXR! My bro's 2003 VXR also has one but the arm rest is way bigger!

The Ice trays are useless .. ( too tiny ) but the fridge by itself do a great job cooling all kind of beverages. I love it ! come close as a factory option here with all VX Cruisers .. along with the Sub Tank and rear AC ..

OK I will ask, where do you get one and how much $$$, for the frig consul that is?

Do a search. The console will set you back, but what will really kill you is plumbing-in the additional a/c lines required to cool it.
