Grab bars

I used a 64' grab bar on my 74'

The holes were already under the dash pad... the grab bars were used throughout production (but not NA cruisers )... and think they are still available btw

Those came from Spector Off-Road in 2014. They used to carry two different handles. One is the large grab handle - 11" (10" ctr2ctr) and the other is small grab handle - 7" (6.25" ctr2ctr). On my '77 I used the Large 11" handle and with a little widening/modifications I made it fit my screws/bolt holes. I replaced the screws with ss bolts to attach my handle.

Where there are no factory tapped holes (with nuts welded to the back side), or the metal is too thin for tapping threads, there's always rivnuts, my favorite approach for this type application.

Yes sir. I purchased 2 of them but had to use a riv-nut for one of the attachment points.

Recently installed 2 inch lift on FJ40. With the 33 tires, I'm 24 inches off the ground. Any grab bar ideas out there ?????

I've got 3. I think 2 are the discontinued SOR grab handles and the other I have no idea on. See pic and let me know if you are interested:

Years ago, I got them from SOR.....but last year, I ran across these < click here >, which I believe are the same handles. I did have to modify/widen them a bit, but it was easy.

That is funny!! I work under the same restrictions, MY WIFE. Along as she is happy, I can play with the FJ40. Now working on her for a 5 speed/transfer case. Short of swapping in a LS motor I'm about done. Of course with the V8 will come air conditioning. It never ends!!!
