Trying to get my '78 on the road this weekend and found out today that the rubber lines connecting the gas tank to the hard lines melted on the insides and ran back into the tank. I was able to clear the gummed up rubber out of the return line. It was only about 3" in length. On the feed line I've cleared 10" into the tank and still have not hit gas.

What does the feed line/ fuel pick up look like inside the later model Pigs? I just want to know what I'm up against trying to dig this gunk out with carb cleaner and a coat hanger.

Thanks,
Norm

Holy crap man! I am running into the same situation on my '74, cept I don't know what the hell is in there.

How did you melt the rubber lines? Are you sure it is that?

Anyone have pics of a Pig tank?

We are contemplating cutting a hole in the top to try to reach end of fuel line, but not sure where to cut...

Anatomy of a pig tank

Lou that would be awesome man if it's still there. Knowing what's in there will be half the battle.

Thanks.

Gas Tank

I know what was inside my tank! Pig Kryptonite. Rust, Rust everywhere....
If you don't want to mess with your old tank, have IPOR send you one of these...33 gallons, high and tight.
The sending unit seal leak has been fixed.

Howdy! Did Lance ever come up with a price on these, especially if we ordered a bunch of them? I know a lot of Pig Owners have discussed interest in a tank larger than stock, but smaller than the 50 gallon monster that is available. John

Tank Price

I don't think so, I know someone here contacted him about the tank and that's the last I heard about it. The one off with an in tank fuel pump and installation cost me around $900.00, its pricy but this tank fits perfect, bolts into factory frame holes and you can still access the sending unit from the topside.
I'll talk to him about it tomorrow, he wanted to cad this up and send it out to be built. How many would be interested and at what price? That's the question we need to answer and Lance can respond.

If he want's I'd be glad to see what it can be built for down here in Guatemala where labor is MUCH cheaper than in the USA!

The only thing I'd ask is permission to build one for my own piggy while we're at it.

Don't you have the fuel gauge pickup in the top of your tank TJ?

I sure do, but you cannot fit your hand in it, you cannot see much through it and it is at the front of the tank, I believe the p/u goes to the rear.

Howdy! To bad you don't know someone who has a bore scope you could peek in there with. That would be just the ticket. John

Apparently my buddy got through the clog w/ a speedo cable hooked to a drill! They were running carb cleaner in there as well

Great news! I hope this can help you with yours...

That was a brilliant idea- now to find a spare speedo cable. . . .
Any guess on how far into the tank he had to go? I just want to know how much farther I have.

Lou - any luck with the visual on your old tank at IPOR? I'd love get one of those long range tanks but I need to make sure I have a runner first.

Thanks again guys.

I am not sure how far in he had to go - I will see him today and ask.
