I guess I'm asking why you don't have someone do the work who is capable of doing the whole job, who has the knowledge to figure out your problems and fix them. Honestly, I don't know for sure there is such a shop/person in Arizona. I'd sure hope there was. If not, I may get into a new line of work. :D

The only person who can do that is you. Anybody expecting a shop, even a competent one, to be able to manage the long term function of a modified 4x4 is asking for a ton of time and money to be spent. These threads simply document that reality.

best of luck with that

but it will be a sad day for the "As the shaft turns" soap opera coming to an end

OK. It's official. My D/C shaft was BAD! A new one is on the way to me. I think Slee sent me the bad one on purpose because I didn't buy the whole mess all at once like he told me to. :D

MEANWHILE...the rear shaft has new U-joints in it. Some vibes exist though today we determined which way we need to adjust...UP PINION. We'll finalize this Friday and await the new D/C front on Monday.

I AM PRAYING FOR TUESDAY TO COME! :D

Why?? You ordering a 4" finally?? :flipoff2:

See? This sort of thing is why I drove an crazy ass distance to see Slee personally! Even though we had a great chat on the phone, and he assured me he could send me DIY parts for any shop to install, I still told him I felt far more comfortable with him and his shop doing the work .. who knows it better? Where can you turn directions on a dime, and reach for a new part off the shelf?? The time off work, and the expenses were all worth it imho. But everyones' situation is different.

Hope this mess is finally cleared up for you ..

The Lexus is DONE!

We 95% eliminated the rear drive shaft vibes by shortening the upper rear arms. Cool.

An hour later the new D/C front shaft arrived. I went over, we slapped it in and the thing rides quite well.

There's a few narrow RPM's here and there where a tad of vibes are felt though Slee told me when you're up 5" it's not as smooth as a low-rider. :) MAYBE someday down the road we'll play with the rear arm adjusts but I doubt it. The ride is good.

I'll freeway test more tonight though I was hauling axx already and it was smooth. I'm sure all is OK. It's done. We did go through HELL on account of that bad D/c shaft but the learning experience will be worth it. It's not worth it NOW but after my first run it will be. :D

THANKS everybody for your help along the way.

Still 5% vibes??? Oh mannnn, that can't be good!

leave it alone

Not until it's a smooth as my 100. :D

Yes...I believe I will. At low speeds when slowing down I still have a barely audible "noise" from that rear shaft area. I'd bet if I threw 50 pounds in the back it'd be silent. I'm sure I'm done. I'll know later tonight when we freeway it more. I'm a happy camper!

Me thinks it was school, not hell :D Actually Woody paid me to do it, otherwise we would not have the posts we did. Romer kicked in some money too so that we can pad the FAQ with info.

But then again, should have sent that shaft back to me when I first asked :D On a serious note, I know it was a frustrating journey, but you know a lot more know that you did when you started.

Next step for you is on the trail birfield replacement school. :D

You ened up rebuilding your rear shaft, now you won't have to worry about that.

Christo - did you get my check yet?

Well, I jumped the gun my friends. The ride is not toloerable above 55MPH. It can't be good for the truck either. It's all coming from the front.

I have to decide....go up or go down in lift.

I hate to go down after I've spent all the dough on the added parts and DC shaft.

I'd like to go up...I guess to the 6" mark. I have the entire Slee kit except for the front arms and 6" springs. IF I MAKE THIS JUMP....how do I know things up front WILL line up?

Christo - you didn't pay John's mechanic again to do extra work, did you?

Did you drive it before you got the front shaft back over 55MPH? Did the front shaft change anything at all?
