There are couple of threads about Fox shocks .. but I want to create this one to put opinions about those 2 that seems to be in the same range ( price / quality ) wise ..

If you have experiences with both ( even better if OME sport are the ones ) .. your opinion will be greatly appreciated ..

thanks !

Watching this as well.
I have the OME shocks that come with the 2.5" lift. I did 850/860. Front heavy, Rear medium.
60018 and 60020 shocks that came with the kit.

This time of year when the asphalt shrinks, each joint wants to rattle my teeth out.
I have ARB front (non winch), BIO rear w/swingout, BIO sliders and BIO skid plate, so plenty of extra weight.

I'd be interested to learn what's out there that isn't such a harsh ride, especially when it's cold.

Sub'd as well. Years ago I had OME shocks on a J@#p Cherokee and the ride was outstanding. I'll be looking to upgrade my 80's suspension soon and am curious to see what people think.

I have OME on my truck. But having used Fox on my mountain bikes in the past and knowing that they are seen as the best of the best in that sphere, I want them on my truck.

J coils 850/863 with OME shocks. Out of all my offroad rigs from 1996 to now, so far the best ride I've experienced (on and offroad combo)

Just replaced 10yr old OME L shocks a week or two ago. Replaced them with Fox 2.0's remote reservoir. Fox are valved stiff at my request. Leaving in 3-days for a month spent in Baja, much of that on dirt roads. Should know when I return if I love or hate the Fox. The OME's were worn out, so hard to judge them.

Cheers

Extremely satisfied with my Fox 2.0 shocks. Had the OMEs prior for reference.

I am on the same boat. Mountain biker, Fox Racing Shox is THE top suspension maker IMHO in the segment. I have OME on my cruiser, but if Fox Shox are half as good as they are on my bikes, then I'd be more than satisfied having them on my truck. This brings up a question:

How are these comparable in price? The Fox Shox I've seen have been noticeably more expensive than the OME counterparts. Are you comparing to the new adjustable, remote reservoir models?

how you compare them .. are fox stiffer, softer .. which model you have .. ?

fox support is not like the past! company is too big for customer support...everything takes that much longer. quality has also gone down due to over seas cost reductions!...look to more independent companies that make you feel like you are the KING!

Aren't OME's just re valved Bilstein 5x00 series? Pretty sure thats the case, at least it is for my Tundra. I have OME 612's (Nitrochargers) on my tundra front and back (great ride) but when I bought them the Toytec Rep said that I was going to have to wait a couple weeks because bilstein was behind in production and the OME' 6x2 series are revalved 5x00 bilsteins...

IDK could be totally wrong.

I was at our local expedition gear shop (primarily toyota guys) the other day looking for local lift options and they are big supporters of the Fox product. Apparently their emulsion shocks have good offroad characteristics (comfort, etc..). Would love to hear first hand experience on a 4" Fox lift (if that's a thing)...

Unless you happen to have brand new Fox and brand new OME to compare at 0 months, 6 months, 12 months.... I doubt you'll get a useful response about which is better.

Most folk (me included) installed Fox IFP as replacements. The OME L's that I took off the front were dead (>10 years use) and of course the Fox IFP felt brilliant (in comparison :) )

I did go with Radflo remotes in the rear since I felt I needed more shock back there when loaded up for trips etc while the front weight remains somewhat static. The rear OME L were also dead.

By dead I mean, flatspots in the stroke where there was no damping. Very easy to compress by hand. No 'gas' charge left in them. etc.

Also, many run various levels of armor, extra fuel tanks, rear tyre swings, roobar, winch AND TYRES etc. Comfort is also very subjective, one persons 'comfort' is another's 'horror'.

If the IFP on the front give me several years of (my version of) comfort then that's good enough. They are CHEAP compared to a few fill ups of petrol. Though I'll likely just go to a somewhat premium front shock when the time comes (like the remote Radflo's I installed on the rear).

cheers,
george.

They are very different:
the OME is a twin tube construction where as the Fox and Bilstien are monotube construction. None of these shocks are private label for the other.

OME were re-valved Monroe, the newer ones I'm not sure of the manufacture but I know it's not Bilstein.

The new OME are a little stiff for the guys who were accustom to the old OME stuff.

The Fox units are nice but like @jtwopark said, the quality and customer service have not held up well to the rapid expansion of their market share.

I have Icon on mine and you may want to look into them as they have been really impressive on road and off.
