Winches are simple devices and easily rebuildable so I guess if you interested in this particular winch, see if you can buy replacement parts for it, if needed. But, if the thing operates connected to a battery using jumper cables, you're good to go!
Warn winches, for instance, have every single parts avail from them so buying that brand used is a no brainer.
One thing to note, is that you *might* want a detachable solenoid pack for ease of fitment in your bumper. I think the A/C lines may get in the way if you use an integrated solenoid pack like this one. Just some food for thought. That's the route I'll be taking when the time comes.
As of now, my plan is to get an Engo winch with a separate solenoid pack. Bang for the buck, this brand rates high among the Craponese winches. Still, I always keep an eye out for a Warn M8000 winch.
