Heck, I don't know. I thought they were 6 spoke.

I'll call 'em in the morning - thanks.

I'll be going back when they open on Saturday.

I might meet you there. I *really* want to pick up an alternator from a V8 Tundra.
27060-0F040 is the 130amp.
27060-0F050 is the 150amp

I would prefer the 150amp but either one would be better than the 80amp stocker. They had a Tundra the last time I was there. Maybe I should call or maybe I should just take my chances.

If they are the stock FJ60 rims then they are 6-spoke.

I'm going on Friday morning just to see what I can see. Steve, you want me to call you when I'm there? I have your cell number. Will that work?

Hopefully I'll be in range Marc - thanks.

Speaking of For Sale, this was at the Chile Challenge today. '99 4Runner, SAS and Locked. $16k

Let me know. I don't recall seeing a Tundra there lately. The only late model Toyota I saw was a Tacoma PreRunner and maybe a few Gen3 4Runners. Eveything else was 1995 or older.

I think stock FJ60 rims are 15x6.5. These are 15x8...

I'm pretty sure you're right about the stock rims being 6.5 wide. I'll see if they are the stock rims or if they are wider aftermarket.

U-Pull Report:

Still have the '82 FJ60 and in the same condition Jon reported. Exterior color is white. It has good doors, fenders, and hood. all of the side glass is there. air cleaner and carb are there. Grille is in fair shape. No front bumper. Rear bumper a little bent. 3 stock rims in the back and one underneath. It was originally a brown interior and someone tried to make it a grey interior by uphostering the seats in blue/grey and putting in similar carpet. All the seatbelts are brown and dash is brown. Door pulls are brown painted over with silver. Not much else to report. I snagged the FJ62 mirrors (I didn't know they were heated), a tail light lens, rear dome light and a few other odds and ends.

I inquired about and looked for a Tundra - they didn't have any.

I did see a rolled DCAB Tacoma with most of its 5VZ-FE still there. Someone had already started taking axle parts. The third member was gone. I didn't pay attention if it was a TRD or a Prerunner.

They have several ~89 - 94 4Runners.

If you have a vehicle more than ~10 years old, there are lots of vehicles there. I needed a few things for my '89 Camry. They had about 30 of that generation. I was surpised how many of the vehicles there have minimal body damage.

The Red Taco is a PreRunner, no locker. I've seen several 5VZFE trucks there and the engines don't even get looked at.

Just about all of the 22RE have their timing covers missing. All of the 22R have there carbs taken. Want a 22RE thottle body? No problem, they are a dime a dozen. Seems the older trucks get picked over. Also, I would say all of the diffs are taken. Not sure why, but even the less desirable 4.10 4-cyl diffs get pulled quickly. Now if I come across a nice 4Runner with a 4.88 diff I might need to pull out the tools just to keep it from getting crushed.

a repost with new info, sent to me by email. i believe it's an FJ55.

'77 FJ Station Wagon; still runs. rust and burns oil. $1,000. contact sbarry@unm.edu. Thanks! Best Steve

FREE 1965 F engine!

I have an original, unadulterated (well, almost) F engine that originally came out of a '65 FJ40. I don't need it for my '71, which will get a SBC, and in the interest of simplifying my life and clearing out space in my garage, I'm offering it to anybody who wants it. If you're interested in it, please let me know why you want it - I'll give preference to those who have an immediate need for it, and those who need an older engine, although I'm most interested in getting it out of my driveway before the neighbors complain, so if you just want it as a spare please feel free to request it.

The good:
It ran remarkably well the last time I ran it. It had a lot of power, and it brought my 40 about a thousand miles without skipping a beat (except as noted below). It was smooth and powerful, and seemed perfectly happy to hum along all day at 3200 RPM, which is pretty impressive for an F.

The bad:
Compression readings were all over the map, which given how well it ran, I suspected was it getting close to needing a valve job. It leaks oil. It needs a new carb - that was the only problem I had bringing the Cruiser here was that the carb was highly jury-rigged to get the engine to run. One of the bolts that should hold the thermostat housing in place is broken, and worse yet, has a broken screw extractor in it, although that should be easy to get removed by a machine shop when you pull the head to do the valves. :-) It leaks some oil. The last time it was started was in November of 1998, although I did squirt a bit of oil into the cylinders not too long after that.

The ugly:
It's the old, old, old-style F, with siamesed exhaust ports and an intake manifold that won't accept a 2bbl carb without an adapter plate. Seriously, this thing is OLD. If you look under the hood of a '61 Chevy pickup, you'd swear it's the same engine - I compared them side by side and they look identical, down to the same pattern of ribs on the valve cover. It's got a later-model spin-on oil filter (takes a Fram PH-8A filter) in place of the original (messy) filter, which is U-bolted to the intake manifold. It, like other F engines, weighs an obscene amount. And did I mention that it's really, really old?

It's currently sitting in my driveway, and I'd really like it gone sooner rather than later. I have a cherry picker and I'll be glad to lift it into your truck or trailer - all you have to do is show up with something suitable for carrying 800 pounds of fairly dirty engine.

The price, as I mentioned, is free. If I get multiple requests for it, I'll adjudicate it as I see fit - please respect my decision and don't go poking pins into a voodoo doll of me if I don't give it to you. If nobody requests it, I'll haul it off for junk - please don't make me do that!

The best way to reach me is by email at aley@lechugilla.com. I don't frequent the forums; I'll try to remember to check back and see if there are any takers here, but no promises. :-)

You know Dave, you don't have to be such a stranger. The only rule for membership is that you own a Toyota 4X4 (w/ a 2-speed transfer case), not that you drive one. And I seem to recall someone mentioning how you were the founding member of this club anyway. That should count for something and balance out your negative points for Heep ownership. Ali gets away with it because he owns two LC's to the one Heep and both of them run, compared to the ailing unmentionable.

No plans yet. Ali helped me remove the Kaymar a couple of months ago and I forgot that I had it.

For now I want to store the spare in the rear. I have small dongs and no sliding windows so I don't mind putting a tire there. Eventually I will get a bumper, but without the swing outs. I like easy access to the back. I really liked Slee's stripper pole tire carrier but it is sadly no longer produced :frown:

guess I'll have to comission Ali for one :D

I have small dongs...I really liked Slee's stripper pole...

OK, i don't know what wierds me out more, the admittedly small or multiple part. combined with the stripper pole part...:vomit smiley::flipoff2:
sorry i couldn't let that go.:hillbilly:
