Yup, we have 7 different Triton V-10 powered F-250's and F-350's at work, they are the biggest piece of freaking s*** trucks i have ever driven. Spend more time in the shop then in the field.

Only worked there 2 years, have been stranded 3x, once was a blown headgasket, once was a cracked block, these are BRAND NEW trucks with less then 20k!!!!!

Again, and i am not BSing, everytime i go to Baja, i see at least one of these thing broken down! :(

Oh and they average 8mpg!

If ya want some real life feedback check out race-dezert.com and read about all the chase truck guys and their motor issues.

Dave wont listen though, and he will anger the Toyota Gods, once you again the Toyota Gods you are in for a world of hate!

We had a 96 ford Quadra van with the 460 V8. It was great for traveling in Baja. You could load two bike's in the back and go just about anywhere. It was a great chase truck for bikes. We drove it up and down the penninsula for races and recreation several times - it was good to us. Sold it to a friend in 2002 and it is still running fine. Sure the gas mileage was crappy- but it was functional.

I gotta say I agree with Boston and I think this is a HUGE mistake but I have not done my homework because I didn't see much sense in continuing to study after I studied up on the CRUISERS..... :flipoff2:

Good luck bro since it seems you have both feet in with a deposit. I think you are just getting to prissy :flamingo: and don't want to hop outside into the cold when you get out of the tent.....

OK, so my brain is just grinding away here. Why not just cut out your roof on the Cruiser and get your pop-up tent that way. What could those cost? Maybe $8K at the most shipped to you? I would join in on a roof cutting party. :D

OK just some other options if you don't like those. :D

Congrats on the future purchase of your new rig! I have always loved the idea of the Sportsmobile and it sounds like it will be a good fit for you guys. Please let us know if there are any old 80 parts that are not being sold with the rig that you are willing to part with. Again, keep us posted on the new rig!

Wow, Dave sorry to hear you are selling your baby. You have put a lot of work in to that rig. We have all benefited greatly from your write ups. Whoever buys it is getting the deal of the century. You must be getting a smoking deal on SMB to sell your 80 for 15k. I can understand your decision. From reading your adventures it looks like you are more in to camping and exploring then off-roading. I think the SMB will serve you well with more creature comforts and room. You have already done the off-road thing and your needs have changed. I think you will always miss your 80. Hopefully the SMB will fill that void. I think everyone on here has your best interests at heart. They are just trying to protect you, do not take it anyway else. In any case hope the sale and purchase go smoothly and post up shots of the new rig. Remember above all SoCal 80s is open to all vehicles. Hope to see you on the trail in your new off-road limo.

What the . . .

Where is the 'crazy' smiley?

:cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo:

Seriously, good luck with the sale. It'll be a fantastic buy for someone. If I had an extra $15k lying around . . .

. . . shoot I wish I had an extra 1K.

I always thought those Sportsmobiles were pretty cool. I wouldn't trade my Cruiser for one though.

Hope you stick around after the Cruiser is gone.

Possible sale in CO... so if anyone wants it they need to act fast! Might be gone by the end of the day.

Mark, i didn't think i could post up a for sale ad over there in that section?

Thanks Tare and Socal80 for your kind words. I love the 80 and if i could afford to have both i would.

Don't worry Dave, we'll let you put a SoCal80's sticker on your window! Because it won't be a Toyota, I'll have to charge you tho. Mo got his free because it was still a Toyota!

Hope the sale goes thru. Steal at $15K.

Lets keep this on topic guys.. i know you're all upset that im unloading the rig.. but it's what we really want.. so to each their own.

Agree with both.

I think you will enjoy your new rig Dave and Yosh and I hope you still pop in to keep us up to date on your adventures.

They used to call it "Pulling a Mickelson" now we're gunna have to call it...

fill in the blanks.

Dude, I'm buying your rig, and i'll resell it to you next year for 20K.

just admit it, you want the huge mercedes Dakar rally beast and you have to keep flipping till you get it.

"Flip this rig" starring the Adv. Duo.

hahahhahahha yep, i've been known to flip rigs. I look at it as a stepping stone to the next rig. Dont know where to go after the SMB.. maybe a UNICAT? LOL

Someone buy this thing already... i'll shave off $500 to SoCAL80's members only!

Someone's going to get a smokin' deal.

Man I wish I had the extra $$$$ to pick this up from you. I have really enjoyed watching the mod train on your truck and hope it does not leave SoCal.
