The instrument cluster and dash are in good shape. The passenger speaker in the dash is cracked, but not a major flaw. It's 25 years old man!

The fact that someone pulled a hack job like that is sad...

Gosh! It would be worth the trip to CM just to see what he is whipping up. Alan builds the most radical late model Cruisers. I wish I had an ounce of his talent.

sort of

Well, if you had seen the original truck you would know that there wasn't much to hack if that was the truck that originally came from John's Cruiser Parts in Grants Pass.

The current owner (goes by ciscokid on a local board) posted this in August:

Thats my new daily driver. I thought someone may have seen it before because it is pretty strange. I'm calling it an FJ42.5 It's got the front end of a 76 FJ40 spliced with the cab and rear frame of an FJ45. The custom bed holds a 100 gallon LPG tank and a limited slip rear end. Who ever did it, did a great a great job. It takes a discerning eye to notice those details. I plan to put running boards back on and paint the top of the cab.

The top is all steel, so the top and back of the cab are original 45. The drive train is from the 76 so it has front disks and a 4 speed. Its still has the 2F motor and it really purrs on the LPG.

My best guess is that someone came across a 45 with a wrecked front end. The front of the frame is from the 40 and is spliced to the 45 frame under the doors. Looks like everything lines up perfect.

The drive train is tighter than my last 2 40s and the tires show nice even wear. The interior is clean with plastic RCI seats. Might look for something a little more comfy, but fine for now. One interesting thing about the inside are the cutting brakes. Its also got LED tail lights and signals.

For what it is worth, I have spoken to the owner several times last year when he was selling it on ebay. Really nice man and really has done some neat things to the truck. Not sure what he wants for it now but back then it was not ridiculous and for a utility truck around a farm/hunting camp, it is ideal. Not sure if the man that spoke to me is the current owner but if he is, that is my experience.

That would have been in my driveway BUT we could not work out the shipping piece i.e. too expensive.

Where in KC? I take it Johnson County? I can offer to maybe go look at it if someone is interested. Sorry never seen ya out on the trails with it that I can remember.
