How much were those? Following the link on my phone doesn't show the price.

$49.89 (at RockAuto).. But Summit's price seems to be cheaper (thx red66)

At RockAuto home page enter the following into the search box:

FOUR SEASONS Part # 20157

In the manufacturer's pop up choose "Four Seasons'

Or you can dig down through the parts tree.
Heat & Air Conditioning > Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor > FOUR SEASONS Part # 20157 (Resistor Block) $49.89

Can anyone who has a functioning part check the resistance from each terminal? One of the spring resistors on mine broke and I want to replace with a modern style. The FSM doesn't have the resistance vales, just the direction of continuity. Thanks.

Usually it's the low speed coil that fries since its used the most.

Get the replacement resistor thingy at RockAuto. That's the one I got and its identical to the OEM (at least mine was). Buy the most expensive one they have if there is a choice.

But if you really want to do the separate resistor thing, a 50 watt, 1 ohm resistor is supposed to get you a low speed fan. Haven't tried it.

But the problem with going that route is heat dissipation. The resistor is going to get hot and needs to be cooled somehow. That's why the OEM resistor is installed in the air duct. The flowing air cools it. They get as hot as a toaster.

Usually the resistor value in Ohms is very low (like 0.5 ~ 1 Ohm) and a cheap meter won't give an accurate measurement. Also they need to handle the fan current so they have to be very high wattage rating, which is why they are made of resistance wire and often mounted in the fan stream for cooling.

I'm using the OEM resister mount in the stock location, just cutting the factory style springs and replacing them with this style, internally wound:

Thanks for the info!

That resistor looks like a 1/2 watt or at max 1 watt rating.

The fan at low speed draws 3.3 amps (46 watts). Can't see that resistor you showed lasting very long. It's gunna burn up.

My low speed fan does not work in my HJ60. Anyone know if this replacement resistor is specific for 12v systems? would it work in my 24v system? I know zero about how electrical systems work, but would be great to have this cheap and easy install fix to get my low fan again.

Can anyone who has a functioning part check the resistance from each terminal?
H - Eh = .34 Ohms, H -M = .54 Ohms, M - L = 1.05 Ohms. Readings using Fluke 79 on 40 Ohm scale, corrected for lead resistance.

That's killer, thanks!

Three days after mine died my engine went kaput as well so I'm now remember that I won't have AC when I get it back up and running again

Yours looks exactly like the 12V unit. Although the resistance values may be slightly different, if I was you, I'd get the one from Rock Auto and try it. It won't damage anything to try. I bet it will work.

Thanks for the info and links! Had mine pulled and it looks like I need a 24v one. Thanks, the search continues to get my low fan speed back.

My two lower speeds just went out as well on my HJ60. Being in Vegas, this is not good. Been searching interwebs as well and cheapest I've been able to find in U.S currency is $106.00 (can no longer find it though). I also found a Canadian site that carries it for CAD$85.85 (about $65.00US) #8713890A00: RESISTOR, HEATER BLOWER. RESISTOR. There's a thread here that talks about a DIY repair in which the resistors are replaced with more modular/modern ones and the item works like a champ...I can't find that thread either. Anyone? Help?
