Sorry that came off much ruder than I intended for it too.
Below I've included some pictures of yesterdays progress and some of the crankshaft. I'm not sure if it came up but there are metal shards in the oil pump. Ive decided that i want to try to make this engine bay look like a showroom engine... try is the key word here lol. the cam looks to be in decent shape...

The engine is out and completely apart. The thrust bearing and crankshaft are toast, the block was very close to being a gonner. pistons thrust is within spec but is at the max so they will be replaced. Will post pics when my phone gets a charge

bearing retainer without bearing, i see that is glazed but is it salvageable?

Is this metal dust?

it looks bad because of the flash, it's just the unmachined abrasive part of the crank covered in oil shining back at you, it did however cut into the next main bearing retainer over, but i want to think it'd be ok because the actual thrust bearing still had some life in it.... i hope

Ah ok.... not sure what you mean by thrust bearing in that first photo. I thought that was a main bearing? But I see the 90 degree bends to the edges which I don’t remember seeing in pics of mains. I myself recently replaced my connecting rod bearings and cam bearings 1-3 in situ but I chose to leave the mains alone since the bolts were beyond my ability from under the truck.

if im correct, the thrust bearing is a main bearing but there's only one thrust bearing that controls the crankshaft play, i made a video walkthrough of the damage, sorry for the slow speech i'm trying to remember all the terminology. and yeah this is my 2nd f engine tear down, the 3fe fought back alot more than the 2f did,

Man all that sucks. Sorry to see that mess. And yes I imagine you right about that thrust bearing. A spun main bearing I believe would have wear at the tangs. They’d have slid over each other. A spun cam bearing is different because they’re full circles. That’s what I had, a partially spun #3. Mine had walked almost 1/3 out of the block.

What’s it look like when you wipe that trail of grease off?
Its baby butt smooth. and im not sure if the thrust bearing did spin because the journals are baby butt smooth too.... its just the one side thats shiney like that. I guess my next step is to take it to a machine shop and see what the dude has to say

Different situation than Felicity's Bearing working it's way out of the block but damn good thing you caught that when you did
that had catastrophic failure written all over it.
