Wow, i just dug out my 63 four wheeler with the shorty road test and can see the bows from the rear shot and they look identical!!! I think I might have found what could be the rarest piece for an lpb! I still dont know if toyota supplied them or the aftermarket, but it is cool. The deep pockets might have to come out for this! I will get some pics soon!

identical to which pic?

Bows for the shorty FJ45

Yes, a local named Tim had some bows, but the strangest thing is they were in his short bed PU. Yes, the railing I purchased way back, got kicked back the first off line order so my parts guy told them I really had a truck this fits. Well my cab is from a 67/45 this railing fits newer 45's with the bolt down roof and not the clamp on cab. It might have beed closer to 93 when I got it. I'll dig it out of the attic and show some photo's. John

I have a set. As pictured above (truck with the Toyota promotion on the side of the canvas). They will only fit the shorty due to the nature of the bed rails (they need a "ledge" to sit on) and width. I have tried to sit them in the long wheel based truck and they are simply too narrow. Can also confirm that they slide on galvanized pipe "rails". The actual bows are galvanized as well. Sorry no pics, they are in deep storage.

By the way and as you can imagine, they will also span across the tub of a 40 series quite nicely.

I dont think they are toyota,I think toyota contracted with some camping company maybe( I have had old tent trailers from the 60's that used galvanized bars)to build these canopy's. I did speak with the original owner and it was on the the truck at the dealer when purchased,so its anybodys guess, but none the less I think they fall into the uber rare category!!

This truck was in the shop to have the original F rebuilt several years ago. Rumor is its completely restored (he didn't want me to toss a 2F in it or install discs) now. It was dunked in that green from stem to stern.

LWB Rack

Saw this post so I will post what I have done to my 1982 FJ45 in prep with bows for a LWB cover.
I used the Toyota diagram just enough to custom make mine. The top corner metal parts are from a army deuce and a half. Can find them on Ebay or military second hand stores. I like them because they are much wider than the tube and will (Hopefully) not wear the top corners as much as a narrow tube. The side metal brace was sheared off to length at the steel company store and I made the three per side pockets to house the wooden bows with a blind nut to keep in place when installed in the pockets. I welded a metal bar on the rear of the side panel that goes into the stock Toyota post pocket cavity then thread taped with two bolt mm treads to keep in place using stock side holes. She is solid when driving and once the cover is made should hold up very well.
