@65swb45 you can see the back of Daryl's truck in this pic... I do remember a dog pissing on my tent at this run. One and only time that happened...View attachment 3774338
Another cool shot Chris. The olive soft top 40 in the bottom right of the pic is Mike Greer, one of the early TLCA reps to Cal4Wheel. He took over for John and Melissa Fulton, who I met in ‘82, and who planted the first seeds for me to get a LC.

Super-ancient history. :grandpa:

Mike was a great teacher and I learned a lot about 4 wheeling from him. Here is a pic of him lending a hand at GGG like he always did..

Mike was pivotal in the destiny of the TLCA. His Cal4Wheel club, the HiDesert 4Wheelers*, ran a mix of mini trucks and Landcruisers. TLCA would not accept them as a club for membership because of this: it was STRICTLY a Landcruiser organization.
Mike was dogged in his determination to make TLCA more inclusive. While Marlin was a much more high profile player, it was Mike who eventually got TLCA to change their bylaws. A forgotten piece of TLCA history.

I guess you and me reminiscing on an internet forum is the 21st century version of the two old guys sitting on a porch stoop.😉

*After a couple of cups of coffee, I have a vague memory of Mike actually splintering the Toyotas away from the rest of the Hi Desert 4 wheelers into an all Toyota group, possibly called Hi and Dri.
