In 1985, the famous Koro created this 6x4 beast based on a FJ45 to participate to the Dakar:

They finished 19th at the general!
2F was supercharged and fuel consumption was crazy <4mpg.

1986 it was used as a press vehicle on the Dakar:

1987 it was bought by a private team, converted to diesel (12HT)n and used as an assistance vehicle:

They would not finish the Dakar and need to drop out.

Since then nothing... until this WE where someone spotted it near Paris:

So who knows, maybe soon we will see it restored and used on historical rallies!?

Ancient history Chris! The 40 with the dual headlights in the first pic is Daryl Butler, whose 40 also sported a full length hatch in the back with a motorized window. 😎

IIRC, it was January or February, and the weather turned on us pretty quickly. Woke up the next morning with snow on my soft top for the long drive home.

Love this Mark

OMG! I just realized that the guy standing by my left front tire in that first pic is @toploader! He told me he met me at GGG, but I didn’t remember. Now there’s proof.

@65swb45 you can see the back of Daryl's truck in this pic... I do remember a dog pissing on my tent at this run. One and only time that happened...
