Funny. I have a set of slot mags like the last pic I was thinking would look cool on my silver/grey FJ62. The wood trim is awesome.pictures from "back in the day" 1973 .... of the "Toyota Special" the "Marine Cruiser"

Yes I do. I rode shotgun in my buddy Ken’s green 40 with the white softtop. Lots of memories from that trip. I may have shared one with @mtn biker on the podcast.1991 TLCA Thanksgiving run in Panamint Valley... @65swb45 I am sure you remember this one...

I think that you did share that story on the "Mark-guyver" episode.Yes I do. I rode shotgun in my buddy Ken’s green 40 with the white softtop. Lots of memories from that trip. I may have shared one with @mtn biker on the podcast.
On our way back from the event, Ken’s 40 started whining. By the time we could see the lights of Ridgecrest on the horizon, it had started to howl. Ken turned to me and said “Doctor Mark, what is that?” I said “I think the transfer case is about two quarts low.” Then he asked me how much it held, and I said about three. He kept driving.
When we pulled into the parking lot of the auto parts store, we looked underneath. Sure enough, the drain plug was gone!Ken went into the store to get some gear oil and hopefully a new plug. I didn’t have much faith that he would find a plug, but I wished him luck.
He came back out about 10 minutes later with the gear oil and said: well I’ve got the oil, but nothing to keep it in the truck.
I calmly told him that Ridgecrest is a windy town, and that I had found a broken tree branch on the ground suitable for the task. He exclaimed that it wouldn’t stay in the drain hole long enough to get us home. He was completely puzzled when I told him that it didn’t have to!
Then I told him that the fill plug had the same dimensions, and that we would swap it to the mission critical drain hole, and use the stick to plug the fill hole!
He was very happy that I was riding shotgun.

That first pic is so Toyota dense, I would consider it A.I. …if it wasn’t for the goats!
