Only @YoYoHo took the time to show us a actual Land Cruiser with the KOITO's

installed , my post's were all on my work bench during my R&D phase of

Kustom LED Bulb Equipped KOITO Kits , I determined early on the Semi Sealed

Beam Housings would have to be Artificially Angled Down Further then a Traditional

Sealed beam Halogen to not Blind oncoming Traffic or cause a unwanted glare in

street signs as the driver of the said Land Cruiser I also wear Prescription Eye

wear full time and that also play's a factor for me and

most likely other folks as well who do also maybe .....

Here is a 1982 USA spec. FJ40 i did a install in last year , with one of My

KOITO-Kustom LED Equipped Kits .

The Kystal Klear JDM Glass has a Timeless Look , and the Flat or Squared off

front Lense with the ever so BOLD KOITO Logo looks Sharp and Modern -

Progressive at the same time too , IMO .......

a Plastic Elliptical totally Transparent lens can scratch easy , and simply looks

like a Cheap design , IMO ....

note : the additional angle Down of the lamp assy to compensate for the

MAX Lumens LED Bulbs installed ...

What do you mean about the high beam on yours now? Too dim or too bright?
The high beam has a terrible pattern, mostly into the sky. It pisses off the squirrels. I've tried quite a few brands. You set the low beam
to a good place and the high beam is a crap shoot. The first set I tried , the highs shot left on one side and high on the other. Rotating the bulbs changes the lows as well as the highs so you can't adjust just one pattern. I end up going back to either Sylvania Silver Stars or the Hella H4 bulbs. I think it's the LED H4 design. All of the ones I bought have the low beam chips on one side and the high chips on the other... so they don't hit the reflectors correctly?

Info please.............. can the IPF glass lens be separated from the reflector housing?
No you can not they are sealed togeather

Sorry, but looks awful. A lot of scattered light/glare, I don’t know if any is aiming to the ground. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Those never work properly in "fluted" glass headlights. Oncoming traffic will hate you. 🙈

Meh each to their own I am happy with them and unlike the H4's they generate a lot less heat which is good with no snow but I can see it being an issue with snow etc .

So far I am happy with them but will keep playing around as nothing is ever done or perfect. It looks like i will be doing a rewire on the old girl so when i do that she will get upgrades anyway so I will allow to use H4's should I feel the need down the track.

Thanks for responding, YoYoHo! Ordered my Toyota housings today. Will try H4 halogen bulbs first.

Ive been installing bixenon projectors on my non 40 series toyotas with HID bulbs. It focuses the light forward really well. On a 7" round it would reduce light emitted to the sides immediately in front of the grill as opposed to normal h4 bulbs in a 7" round light, but ditch lights could make up for that.

Anxious to hear your test results. My Toyota housing/wiring kit should be here any day. Just wondering how many watts the wiring and headlight assemblies can take. ??

LED bulbs suck if you are in icy or snowy conditions. We had to take them off the cab lights of tractors because in snowy or icy conditions they just can't melt any build up off them and you quickly go blind.

ToyotaMatt.................

Do you sell these LED bulbs for the Koito H4 halogen housings?

LED Bulb Specifications :

- Input Power 25W
- Operation Voltage 9-32 VDC
- Luminous Flux 5000LM
- IP Rating IP 67
- Color Temperature 8000K
- LED Lifetime 30,000 Hours
- Operation Temperature -40'C - + 80'C

Crap. Didn't think of that... might have to rethink LED's...
Yeah might want to think hard about it because being out in the middle of a snowstorm with no lights would suck. Newer vehicles have enough temperature dispersion from the engine and radiator since they are integrated to mitigate some of it but not all of it.
I can't imagine a 7" reflector on the front of a 40 at 90 degrees to the wind would get much ambient heat from the radiator to do much melting.

I installed the Toyota kit (81110-60P70). I connected the relay as suggested. The driver side is very dim and hi-beam doesn’t work. It's a new bulb, same as other side. It's the side furthest from the battery and ground. The passenger side is bright and hi-beam works fine. I’ve tried swapping the bulbs side for side, but the problem remains. Can anyone help with this?

Back the plug out a bit

Get a good grounded wire and touch it to the ground post on the bulb. See if that fixes it. If so just spline in a ground wire.

OK guys. Here is my tech to contribute to the thread.

Got the lights.

Truly awesome. There is more value in the wiring harness, bag of zip ties and tube of grease than they charge for these lights. This has to be the most underpriced item ever for a Land Cruiser.

Dealer cost is $30 a PAIR and Retail is $64. I’d pay double the retail cost or more for this beautiful light.

The install is a 1 banana job. Very straightforward

I spent more time putting wires away than it took to hook em up.

Be prepared to put different ends on the power and ground wire. The tiny ends won’t likely fit on your battery posts.

So, I bought a pile of lights to check and see what one works best. Here we go.
