FJ40 Aftermarket Hardtop

Never seen an aftermarket one in North America on a vehicle, but checked the link and found that the company is quiet local to me, just ~100mi from my house. Bad thing that past summer hurricane nearly destroyed this small town and there were very few buildings there which were left un-damaged. It may take a year or over to rebuild the town.

why do people like having the hard top on? lol.

Have you tried to drive when it's -25C (-77F), which is normal for the winter in Canada with a SoftTop or no top at all ( ;) )
SoftTop becoming brittle the way that closing the door can break the material.
BTW, in a summer when it's warm enough SoftTop is also too soft and easily punctures when driving through heavy forest through the trails which are much, read 1/2 width, tighter then the vehicle width.

Dean wind chill factor? :D

your at absolute 0 arent you? thats like what -300C? you dont need a top when the air freezes LOL

kinda cool looking up the coldest recorded temperatures LOL

the coldest in canada was: Canada −63 °C (−81 °F) Snag, Yukon, Canada 1947-02-03

s***, stick a good heater in and enjoy. 40s have to have the best heaters that Cruisers ever got.

hardtops have their place, i enjoy mine when it gets cold.

Whoa!!! -25 C is actually - 13 F (for future reference, C and F actually meet at -40) ...-77 F would actually be something like - 61 C

we're on Metric system in Canada, so I'm not used to F as a temperature readings. I just went on the web and punch the number in. Apparently there was an error somewhere in transaction which I didn't paid attention to, just copy/paste the result. Sorry. Thank you for clarification.

What I found the main drawback of the HardTop is its weight and ability to fit into an average garage. FJ40 is a tall vehicle, but if you have tall garage door or live in a place you never need a garage, it's a nice addition to the Cruiser.

As of a good heater, yes and no. Mine came from California and I still didn't put it in, previous owner ripped it off the vehicle completely, so now I have to putt all the parts back from the rad to the cab.
I drove a few friend's FJs and some of them have good heat output, while others are barely heating anything. It may the condition of the units considering that they are nearly 30 years old.

maybe heat of diesel vs gas????

my 4bd1t did no justice for the heating system in the 60.

The sbc will run me out even on a 35 deg day. And i use F...not C
