This HPS is very unusual for FJ form.

why do people like having the hard top on? lol.

I'm on the Oregon coast where we get 90" of rain during the winter and half of that is wind-driven-sideways rain and even my hard top leaks. I garage my my DD at night but I figured a soft top would have a short life around here; are the canvas tops as waterproof as the hard tops?

not even close... (i treated mine twice - a quick shower.. no problem.. a heavy rain and everything was soaked!)

water in, water out.

For temperature conversions use the following:

Temp F = 9/5(Temp in C) + 32

Temp C = 5/9(Temp in F - 32)

Sorry just had to throw my .02 on temp conversions..

I'm probably bringing in 2 extra hardtops for FJ43's in Jan. If anyone wants one for an fj40 let me know. There are a couple of makes and styles.

I may be interested. Let us know the prices and shipping charges. Do you have any pictures of the rear doors and on the insides, especially the headliner, and the rain gutters?

Also, are there any differences in hard top sizes or fit issues for a '70-'72 models compared to the later model FJ40s?

Hardtops are the way to go. First you don't get your interior wet and rained on (think of any electronics, seats and seat foams, and any other expensive restoration that you value). Second, you have bit more security than a hard top, mainly because you have glass window instead of a plastic one, and it's harder for prying eyes to see into. Third, you can mount a heavy duty roof rack without having to drill into the body in order to make a frame for a roof rack as you have to for a soft top. Fourth, too much sun is bad for you...

If you have an easy way to get your hard top on and off, as in a TALL garage, a mechanical hoist, and room to store your hardtop, then I would consider going topless.

i forgot about them...they even have a full 1 piece top

LIKEY LIKEY! Thats what I'm talking about. That being said, sure is expensive for just the oem top cap.

I like the top window but it's taller than stock.. I already have to physically push my garage door past the normal raised height by the opener and stick a screwdriver between the door and the frame to get an extra inch. Even then, I have a trough dug into my top that self cleared itself so I can get inside the garage. I have to keep my 35s on in the winter with the top on or it is too tall with flat springs/SOA.. In the summer, 37s and no top fits just fine.
