got ya!

I was thinking when you said on the downpipe it was post turbo.

well i measured with my infrared today anyways and it may be because the different materials / alloy combination's used, but post turbo on the cast peice was about 340*F and pre turbo beside my EGT probe was about 290*F course my EGT was reading 330ish*F

but i think it was still in part due to design and thickness of casting materials, under load and drive pressure pre turbo would undoubtedly be much warmer since the pressure would be higher from pushing the turbine not to mention the air trying to be forced (in my case) into a turbo that cannot support the fuel the engine is moving.

Hey Mac,

Your thread on building your intercooler has a bunch of pics missing, so I checked out your site to see what you'd done.

[pic deleted]
Do you have other pics somewhere showing the building of the intercooler? I tried clicking this link as well: http://www.fj40-2f-eti-locked-n-loaded.com/build_up/intercooler.html but it's not working either.

Do I need 4 of them?

4 will let the engine breath real easy, and at ebay prices not break the bank. New the cores are $212US each. 4 will be good for up to 600hp :D

Intake temps will then look like this. Blue pre turbo and green post intercooler.

Colder intake temps mean you can add more fuel safely and sustain lower EGT's for longer. Adding more fuel means more power.

those are crazy efficient!!!

4 have been ordered and should be on their way

i wonder if some of those would be good for my 24V vs the stock intercooler... $$... guess it will be waiting for another day.

They're out of the way as far as approach angle, and would mount direct to the frame. Seems like a good choice to me.

bolts , i like bolts. big plus is if you decide later ur not happy its just a few minutes work, not a hour of grinding and totching.

I love the tow hooks bud! At least they look cool mounted like that, I think they'd work great. Not sure if they would fit on my rig for various reasons, but I might steal your idea.

Super cool rig, I am jealous for sure!

I was thinking they might have come off of a train :D
