Hey i have a 79 fj40 that im looking at fixing up and came across some bondo on both quarter panels. Does anyone have any input on what to do for that?

Also im going to put a 4 link suspension in back and do the soa on front. Has anybody ever had issues with the soa on the front?
Thanks Tyler

Depends on the depth of the bondo, most later trucks are gonna have some. You really only have a couple of options, grind off all the bondo, and see what's under it (rust), plan to replace the rear quarters and inner fenders (rust, welding, cutting, grinding, and a little prayer), or run it till it cracks and falls off. You could lead it i guess, but that's a lost art, not sure it'd be worth it for a trail truck. Last and worst, you could put diamond plate over it, looking better, but accellerating the rust :(

do you have any places that you could recommend for the qaurters and inner fenders?

how big of tires are you going , you might be able to trim the fenders ?

no probs going soa in the front

bondo rules

SOA up front may require cut and turn of your knuckles to keep your steering correct.

leave the bondo alone, go drive the hell out of the truck
once it turns into a big hole, then do something.
it sounds like you just got the truck? don't rip it apart right away, use it, figure out what you want to do with it, then when you have the time and money, and all of the electrical and mechanical problems are sorted out, THEN you put on the aluminum tub :D
