After another morning perusal, I have so much time to pick a color, it ain't even funny.

I have a newfound respect for bondo. I had no idea it could be applied 1/4-1/2" thick.

There is only one color to paint a TRUE Pig...

Which is?

I'm fairly certain this what's under the bondo and crap paint job that's on it.

Saw a thread where Ige started peeling off paint and underneath the OE paint was still plainly visible, which I think this will be too.

They didn't primer. They slathered on some bondo and painted.

Am I doing the right thing, as far as a resto is concerned?

I'm too ignorant to think anything different, but more than one experienced Mudder has said she's too rough to restore.

I realize a little rusty.......

I don't see it any other way and have already shelled out significant funds, an effort to return to former glory (that being to me, F, OE paint, solid from bumper to bumper.)

I realize it's finished value will be nowhere near the investment, but don't want to be stupid about diving into a project blind.

Was going for tires today and realized the wheels need refinishing, so it's a step forward and two back, it seems.

I think you're doing the right thing and can't wait to see, the paint grief is they never came in that combo from the factory (to the collective knowledge at least). You can do what you want, I'm sure it will turn out great ;-)

I realize all this may seem petty, but in attempting to determine a finished product or goal, just covering my bases, as far as accuracy may be concerned.

Really don't want to refinish these wheels, in advance of bodywork/paint, but need tires just do I can move around. Two of these are dry rotted to the point I've drained a co2 tank airing daily, to keep afloat, and need it mobile, if nothing else pushing on a trailer for now.

All in preparation for various treatments, but goal is to perform VIN inspection to finalize title, and either fix leaks or drain, so I can take home to work on.

Point.

This morning, noticed this on wheels after scraping paint, a bit

Further investigation into produced

In the tub bottom. Not sure what that means, as far as original paint, or what, but the purpose if post.

Would a period correct aftermarket wagon wheel kill my chances of a fair entry?

Any suggestions?

Plan on wrapping with 33" KM2s, but be next week before I could invest the time to pull the tires and blast wheels, to paint a color of white that's not OE, anyway.

Have emailed Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters about the minimal 2" lift, thinking it's inevitable and forward step, but if not necessary to trailer, may hold off until I can figure out what I'm doing.

Unsure on that, too.

My brake switch fix is a fail....

image-2626961810.jpg

but think its due to chewed wires, since no continuity is evident and there are wires hanging out everywhere.

I think I'm too a point that drivability isn't a concern at this point, so trailer shopping (was for work, anyway) as well.

Cliff notes:

Blast wheels and primer (for lack of color decision) or swap to period correct?

For purpose of 33" tires?

Lift, now?

Currently seeking:

Uncut, unmolested harness.
New brake switch

is that switch not common to 40s?

period correct wheels will look the best, and will fit the resto theme, and are not THAT hard to come by

won't a 1.5-2" shackle lift clear the 33s enough for around town and testing once its driveable?

I say paint it whatever color you want, but make it 2 tone, solid colors just look weird on Pigs...throws the proportions out of wack, or something like that.

I personally am not a big fan of wagon wheels. 60 series wheels look okay I think.
You could re-do some original steelies w/ the "electric panel" gray color and slap some 33s and hubcaps on there.
You are not going to get the '74 harness from Jim? Coolerman has some great electrical bits you may try to repair your harness.

I agree with the assertion that a Piggy should be two-tone (body color + white).

That ones common to Fords and it works, it's the harness that's unsalvageable.

Have the switch from a 72 part out ordered.

Was on one of the Cruiser sites and saw that OEs replacements are gray, and thought it looked decent enough to run.

Going to blast these and hit with Duplicolor or another other wheel worthy, but removable finish in similar gray, and run what I've got.

Can't find much else appealing.

Think it will, but hate to do it twice. Still weighing options though.

General consensus and it'll be two tone, accurate to 72 specific year.

Someone on another thread suggested a pink belly. Hahahaha.

Think you nailed it on the wheels and what I'm thinking.

Believe the '74 seller was the one that contacted me and stated it wasn't compatible, but didn't recall Jim being the name.

Have a line on a 72 harness from the newest part out thread, he's attempting removal, at least.

Two tone she'll be, but complete disregard to Mustard, unless this is one of kind and documentable.

Man, just a few emails and Chris already has this to page 11 on my iPhone!!

Awesome!!

Looking forward to seeing this beast in person in July. ;)

I have a sneaking suspicion that about the only change from now and July, may be a pile of parts and lot of invoices.

You've not seen the other "build" yet, so maybe that'll entertain. Haha.
