Where did you find those?

Poser.

Fender doesn't look like it has the cut out for running light? Did you find one of each side?

Both sides.

I'll cut a hole. Much easier than patching one. Haha.

Tailgate doesn't have raised "TOYOTA" lettering - what year is it for?

10/72 through 12/77

Oddly, I saw TOYOTA letters listed as "NOS" on eBay, 55 specific, and questioned the validity of ad.

Is it possible that the replacement tailgates used individually attached letters?

I can't recall the difference between the 76, 72, 71 I have, but pretty sure they're all embossed.

Awesome finds!!!

No doubt. I couldn't believe it when the pics finally came through.

Text read "Are you sitting down?" and I knew it was going to be good.

I have got to start liquidating some stock piled parts.

... strange?

Tucker

Is now.

Trying to find the eBay seller that listed the TOYOTA letters, to see if I can get the part number, for S&Gs more than anything, but to determine if actually 55 specific and what they're listed as being for.

Going to inspect the 72 tailgate very closely with Britt, to see if we can use before considering this new one. I know there were two areas at the hinges that had bubbled through three layers of paint, but would prefer to keep the gate on it, if possible, so it remains correct.

If it's determined this new gate is necessary, can cut the upper panel off the 72 and section it in.

I have a 71 gate that's in very good condition, but according to Google queries, pre-72 is a different part number and shows no supersedes, so it may be different, anyway.

If it turns out I don't need the new tailgate for any of the three (I know the 71, if I keep it, won't need, since my early vision is a topped, bobbed, and caged wheeler) then I can surely recoup some of the expenditure on these parts.

If only an OE shell and hood were to pop up....

That looks like a '78-'79 tailgate, I'm sure you can make it work though. Those license plate lights are pure awesome ...

Tucker

not 78-79. they don't indent that far. much uglier.

I can not find the Toyota logo/letters that were listed on eBay, to check the listed application by part number, but they were 55 specific.

Thinking they must've been attached in the event the rear gate necessitated replacement, but researching.

I'm hoping I can salvage that 72 since the goal is to maintain as much as possible and keep OE, in all honesty, but having an NOS tailgate as an option is about the best option I can think of.

Impressive finds ! You are a lucky man :)
The tailgate you have with the indent but no Toyota stamped in, was
used in 77. They are all interchangeable. I have seen 78's used on 71's (vice versa)
..etc..etc.. should be no fitting issues.

Good info. Thanks.

It'll be OCD issues more than fitment ones, but a very good option to start with, for sure.

Awesome finds. Glad Steve talked to you.

I gave credit to you for the referral in a running conversation with Fireman and BangBang, but guess I neglected to here.

Verbiage was along the lines of "Onur introduced to Poser, with a preface to the extent of my insanity that must've played some role in Steve's recalling whom was most infected with swine flu from which I suffer, so have Onur to thank/cuss."

That was long before we spoke so I wasn't too far off the mark.

Hahahaha.

You know what I find odd?

No one on Mud asked me about the 45 the fenders are in.

We just figured it had to be someone with a similar affliction to be hoarding those parts :-)

Tucker

Hahaha. Good call.

Think BangBang's first comment was "When did you get a 45?"

I didn't get the full story, since my excitement got the better of me, but believe the parts were part of a larger deal.

A little progress. I'm thinking that the Pig is taking third or fourth billing in the lineup of projects, which is fine considering the shop rate, but hoping it'll get this week's undivided attention.

I have been concerned about chopping into the parts Pig, since grand delusions of a topped, bobbed, caged wheeler have been dancing in my head, but Britt's wanting to take another look, so maybe carving pork off it soon.

All of the OE parts that were on an original list to Onur are shipping today, the NLAs being:

Outer rear bearings
Inner and outer front bearings
Front end plate gasket (11312-60012)
Wheel cylinders

Will add part numbers once I receive the paper copy of the invoices that include them, since electronics aren't YET available. ;)

Have wheel cylinders that cost me around $800, so good there. :)

I really don't have a total grasp of what's coming, but it took several weeks of PM exchanges with Pighead, to whom I'm indebted and grateful, to compile and I know Onur's worked hard on expanding a line item from "Axle Rebuild" into the plethora of parts it requires, too, much appreciated, as well.

Once the invoices come in, will add part numbers above and complete part numbers and description for future viewers.

Have Pighead's rebuilt dizzy, new Petronix, plastic fan and shackles/bushings en route from Mark, and anticipate a call any day, if others posted timelines are accurate, from Jim C on carb.
