That shiny new paint is struggling hard to hold back the rust blooms. Walk away. Also, there looks to be something fishy going on right here:

Don't focus too much on the rock scrapes and ugly paint on my truck. See the spot welds? See the factory divot and defined seam? The truck you have pictured has all this area covered in bondo. Be careful.

Thanks for all your help. Didn't go with the 88. Too much rust. too much risk. But I am now officially a Land Cruiser owner. Got myself a 94 FZJ80 this week..
