I believe it will be very similar to the route difficulty. Lots of dirt road with scenery and few challenges. Weather is going to be the greatest challenge. I would think the 62 would be easiest but the Sequoia should work and we will need to keep a close eye on spots that might catch you up.

How do you feel the FJ62 would do will keeping up on the highway? Haven't hunting in a few years but camped in sub zero weather more than once. Cold weather is not as big a deal to me. Spent a few nights freezing in a sleeping bag. That was before the sub zero. Warm sleeping bag and wool blankets. Also plenty of warm cloths.

What are we thinking as far as refueling? I've got a propane tank and rotopax. Bringing both will require me to carry propane in the vehicle more than likely.

We should be OK without extra gas but it is up to you. Steve is planning on bringing firewood and the fire ring is really for coffee in the morning.

I'm interested in how far :steer: between gas stations.

Not an issue for the Taco but could be dicey with the 40.

only if the power is out in Kayenta  - which happened several years ago when it snowed on May 3rd as we were coming back from Cruiser Moab

The route as far as you have so far, are you still thinking it’ll be ok with towing a off-road trailer?

Erin and i have been prepping for the last 2 winters by living in north Georgia mountains. Colder the better.....i am kidding. Supposed to be 17 tonight and was 19 last night. High of 39 today and 41 tomorrow. Not Minnesota..but still sucks!

I think this is why I need a pre-run.
Well, based on my sketchy record keeping during the pre-run, here are the miles between the gas stations we used.

I forgot to get receipts after Mexican Hat, so the prices and gallons used for Moab through Gold Canyon are estimated based on my credit card totals for each stop. Perhaps @Saddletramp can provide the correct gas prices and I can increase the accuracy of the spreadsheet.

I was quite surprised by the 9.1 MPG going up the hill to Flagstaff

* Correction for the above sentence ***

I forgot I put 4.5 gallons in the Jerry Can, so my 9.1 MPG was actually 13.8. Still low, but not shockingly low. (table updated with corrected MPG for Flagstaff)

RIP my wallet.

I didn’t keep track, but the 80 got worse mileage and used more gas. @Stepmurr , thank you again for your help in scouting out the area and camping in the cold.

With a heavy heart, Erin and I are going to have to withdraw from this gathering. Sometimes being an adult gets in the way of what we would like to do. We were really looking forward to catching up with old friends and new members. It is not to be at this time apparently. We are already checking calendars to figure out a time that gets us back to our home state for a visit.
