This may be a stupid question but isnt the snorkle on the wrong side??? Down here in Aus they go on the other side!

All US specs have the air box on the pass side... Ummm that would be the "right side" when sitting inside :-)

Who knows what you crazy Ozzie's are running down there ;-p

It's a little bit of digital trickery. I did a mirror flip of the image to make it match the "before" shot :)

Damn! You moved the fuel door too! What was the advantage in that? I'll have to look into that mod!

Ohhhhh....NOW I know.....Because all the fuel pumps in your area only fill from the OTHER side!!!!!... Now I get it.

^ good eye!

Pics of it folded down? Looks cool. Hope there is no vibes/noises. That's the hardest challenge to a tire carrier.

Look at the writing on the stickers on the windows.....that will offer the clue. It's actually a photo of the right side of the vehicle but he "flipped" it so now it looks like it's the left side.

Ah, no I didn't but that's a good idea! But on that note, I haven't welded the inside of it yet. It's only welded on the top shell. Once I disassemble everything I'll do the finish welding inside. So that may very well contribute to some of the movement.

Weld the bottom of the spindle to the inside of the bumper. Bendy issues solved

Bumper is pretty much done now, just need a bit of finish grinding then it will be ready for paint. I gave up on the swing down idea. Getting anxious to start on the 3link and I really don't feel like spending anymore time on this bumper, it's been way too long already. Because of the way I angled the tire carrier, it's actually easier to get the tire on than my old setup despite it sitting over a foot higher. That's when I realized using the swingdown would be more of hassle. So I just welded the damn thing in place. Oh well. The plus side is that because of tire carrier is attached to the gate, it's a lot more solid than if were just attached down at the base only. I'm thinking of adding a little fold-down table on the inside of the gate.

Last piece I needed, Hi-Lift mount. You can see where I welded the tire carrier in place. Also I added a 2nd latch to the swingout. With the one latch I had if I pulled on it real hard it would slide backwards. Not good. Made me nervous so I added one more for good measure.

And what says MUD - rear light bar? Is this too brotastic? Or should I just stick with the small round LED I had before?

I think it might be too much with the light bar. Keep the round one!

Nice. Where does it attach to gate? Pics?

So I had an interesting conversation with two CHP officers last night at Starbucks. One of them was pouring over my truck and was legitimately curious about the mods because he has a 60 and is considering an 80. Talked for awhile then the conversation came to the lights. Current I only have the one ditch light installed but it was enough for him to give me his feedback. He said he's trying not to be such a hard ass about aftermarket lights but everyday drivers are making it hard for him because they insist on turning these lights on while driving on road. He said he typically will not ticket for grill or pillar lights. But he said he absolutely tickets for the long led bars on the roof above the windshield if they don't have a cover. Said he doesn't even give out warnings for those anymore. So of course this gets me thinking about my future utilization. Then I see what you have and others and just wonder.

So Jose, when do you ticket someone for lights?
:flipoff2:

Btw, I totally forgot to ask about the gas cans. So pissed at myself.

I haven't had any issues with my light bar but then again it just sits in the grill. Kinda silly to require a cover but meh. As for the gas cans, if they give you a ticket they are flat out WRONG. I posted links in some other thread, but the CARB laws only apply to the manufacture and sale of those containers within CA. There's nothing that says we can't own or use them. It's written plain as day per the regulation.

I see the c shaped square stock but can't make out how it is connected. Through the licence plate holes??

Curious because I use a ratchet strap from tire to a homebrew bracket that attaches to two 10mm bolts that hold on shock for rear gate.

Ah, no. The gate is welded to the swingout and the tire carrier is welded to the gate, in addition to the now useless bushings at the bottom. So the tire carrier is attached at 2 points to the swingout and 2 points to the gate. Make sense?

Driving around town so far I don't get any noise or rattles from the tire carrier. Bottom of the tire is 45" from the ground. Gas can basket is 47". So tons of rear clearance and don't have to worry about most vehicles pushing it into the tailgate in the event of a rear collision.

Gotcha...I thought you where referring to tail gate....

My vibes where only on highway. Glad to see you used 2x3. Is that what Luke supplys in kit now?

He still supplies 2x2. I went with 2x3 after reading what you said about the vibrations as that would drive me insane. Here's side profile showing how high the tire is.

I know it's welded now but you must have hemmed and hawed about the angle of the carrier leaving the top of the tire away from the rear glass. Looks great as is though.
